Kickstarter Pathfinder + Cyberpunk; ZEITGEIST AP Hardcover Kickstarter; the DUNGEON BASTARD is back; plus a new

As much as I'd like to back the Zeitgeist Kickstarter, between Cthulhu Wars, CoC 7th edition and Wolfgang's Deep Magic my budget for this month is well and truly blown :(

    D&D 5E (2014) Joke Material Components

I think I agree with you here, up to a point. If I'm reading you correctly you want a separation between setting and mechanics; a "universal" system (at least as far as a fantasy game can be universal--i.e. not a GURPS-style any setting is possible)? Essentially a crunch core book, pushing all...

    D&D 5E (2014) Joke Material Components

Ha! I'd not realised we'd both made the same point at essentially the same time :D I really like the idea of spell components for some spells, they fit in with how I imagine them to be cast (which is generally how they're cast in a range of different films through the ages). However, I've...

    D&D 5E (2014) Joke Material Components

Personally I'd assume the use of nut shells in a confusion spell would be a reference to the shell game, not a crass idiom for madness but I could be wrong.

Season of Sexism #1: The Sexist Game; Star Wars goes BEYOND THE RIM; and What happens when adventure

Nah, not enough dissent ;) Interesting video though. I'm looking forward to the rest.

3G: More than Pen and Paper

Yeah, it was this I was really thinking of here. I've not, yet, but can imagine having it to hand for quickly looking things up in books I don't immediately have to hand. Thanks to Dropbox and my growing collection of PDFs I can now carry an entire bookshelf around in, if not my pocket, a small...

3G: More than Pen and Paper

I agree about the limitations of the iPad. I've become a complete PDF convert since owning my tablet but only insofar as an initial rules read-through or for background products. I can't see myself trying to actually DM from one.

D&D 5E (2014) Should the next edition of D&D promote more equality?

Depicting a woman this way isn't necessarily bad but depicting all of them that way is, frankly, archaic. Obviously, the opposite is also true: depicting all men as ubermensch heroes is equally ridiculous.

D&D 5E (2014) Should the next edition of D&D promote more equality?

Have they really been terrible? I'll agree Seoni can fall into this category and might be over used as a marketing tool. I've also heard the ARG has some bad art in it but I have no interest in it as a product so I've never read it.

D&D 5E (2014) Should the next edition of D&D promote more equality?

Are you confusing equality (in this case of opportunity and representation) with biological sameness?

D&D 5E (2014) Should the next edition of D&D promote more equality?

I have no idea what that last sentence means.

D&D 5E (2014) Should the next edition of D&D promote more equality?

My personal criticism of these two covers relates to the highly awkward poses of the female characters rather than their lack of attire. Perhaps ironically, given the content of this thread, my first reaction is "why is she falling over?" rather than "hubba! hubba!" I can't comment on the rest...

Perhaps he would be better off playing "Men of Power"...

D&D 5E (2014) Should the next edition of D&D promote more equality?

Are you addressing the matter at hand or just espousing your opinions on art? I've not read the whole of this thread yet it is clear to me that no one is claiming all art should be inoffensive. No one is even suggesting the illustrations in DnD Next should be entirely inoffensive. Here is a...

D&D 5E (2014) Should the next edition of D&D promote more equality?

As someone born and bred in England I'm inclined to agree. I've never been to the USA, much less lived there, so my opinion is obviously distorted by the lens of the media but my eyebrow is often raised by some of the objections raised in certain quarters. Things like that, for example.

    Games In A Museum?

I disagree that there are no exemplars of RPGs that can be set aside from more "mundane" examples from the point of view of their styling and production. I'd cite the two I mentioned earlier, LotFP and AS&SH, for example. Not that I'm claiming either are worthy of actually being in a museum...
