D&D 5E (2014) What kind of character would you play?

Right now I have this concept of a monk who swore vow of silence, I really want to try how would that work. Would probably be a high elf so I have access to minor illusion (does not have verbal requirement) if I really need to "say" something.

To Kill or Not to Kill?

I personally don't like this. We had a fight that went rather poorly for us, so I opted for tactical retreat. Others decided to be big heroes and stay... got promptly killed for their heroism, but woke up days later with a player missing an arm (no mechanical impact, as they made metal arm for...

D&D 5E (2014) Best spells with no components? Or, spells for the naked spellcaster.

misty step is the low level bonus action teleporting, so you can double run right after!

D&D 5E (2014) Low Level Wizards Really Do Suck in 5E

this is true, warriors/martials at level 11+ deal so much damage but I still felt like a star, because of me the warrior had flying so he could connect with that dragon while I was keeping myself busy with dimension dooring others from dodgy positions

Is it just me or is the spell Rope Trick kind of absurd?

I do have a fair share of experience with new DMs, and most either defer to their more experienced players or just handwave this kind of stuff, as they have enough on their plate as is. It is usually the more seasoned ones that will do this over-analysis. I'm sorry if it came as an offense to...

Is it just me or is the spell Rope Trick kind of absurd?

I do not see it that way and nor was it my intention but if you feel that bent on the interpretation, go for it, it's rulings over rules after all and you can do it at your table as you wish

Is it just me or is the spell Rope Trick kind of absurd?

that is what the interpretation I quoted looks like to me though all the spells in the book have nice and simple durations - either specific number of rounds or number of minutes/hours, there is no seconds hair-splitting on longer duration spells, and it wouldn't make much sense to break the...

Is it just me or is the spell Rope Trick kind of absurd?

because they didn't want to make a spell duration 1hr and 12 seconds, just so extremely pedantic GMs couldn't try and GOTCHA players over 12 seconds difference and "spell ambiguity"

D&D 5E (2014) Elven trance and long rests

depending on your definition of strenuous activity, I would consider being productive as strenuous and thus interrupting the long rest, as per the definition: A long rest is a period of extended downtime, at least 8 hours long, during which a character sleeps or performs light activity: reading...

How often do your players multiclass?

Only seen it once, and it was me doing it, wanted to try the raging bear thing. Otherwise, we never get to any levels where you would consider multi-classing.

Mapping Buffy the Vampire Slayer to DnD Alignment

Tell the alignment to follow you, open the door for it, then shut the door, lock it and burn that house down. I just don't like the concept of shoehorning someone to play a certain way based upon my own subjective perception of what constitutes good/evil/neutral or the other axis. Fortunately...

D&D 5E (2014) Magic Missile and Death Saving Throws

If you want to go by the sage advice and would demand separate concentration check for each missile, then I would rule the same for death saves and would rule if 3 of 5 missiles are enough to bring character to 0, then the excessive 2 would incur death saves.
