D&D Celebrity Satine Phoenix & Husband Jamison Stone Accused Of Abuse Towards Freelancers

A bit of it. I don't feel like I can comment on her apology, but the comments have been brutal.

D&D Celebrity Satine Phoenix & Husband Jamison Stone Accused Of Abuse Towards Freelancers

Agreed. Not that any of us know the complete timeline of events, but that situation left me with the overall impression of, "Don't let your game designers handle HR issues. They are in no way trained for it and probably won't handle it well. Corporations have HR departments for a reason."

D&D Celebrity Satine Phoenix & Husband Jamison Stone Accused Of Abuse Towards Freelancers

You were suspicious of Mearls off the bat? The others gave me a bad vibe, but Mearls felt like he almost came from Central Casting as "generic D&D nerd".

D&D Celebrity Satine Phoenix & Husband Jamison Stone Accused Of Abuse Towards Freelancers

In fairness, there's a number of people in the 'D&D Famous' space who feel kind of try-hard to me: I've never payed it much mind; I just assumed they were excited about what they were doing and trying extra hard not to jinx it, which I completely understand. I haven't followed Satine terribly...

In fairness, I had the exact same impression of them.

Do we need further discussion, or should we move on to voting? edit: Do we need a quorum or is a simple majority vote enough to carry a motion? I forget the rules.

    D&D General Testing Players

...in a weird intersection of "things I know about", I'd actually recommend BosnianBill over LPL if you wanted to know the basics of bypassing common locks, as amusing as LPL is to watch. That being said, if the goal was to make the rogue character feel cool rather than try to challenge them in...

D&D 5E (2014) New Unearthed Arcana Today: Giant Themed Class Options and Feats

You're right, now that I look, along with the 'Strixhaven Mascot' feat. I think these are the first feats with level requirements and no prerequisite feats, though.

D&D 5E (2014) New Unearthed Arcana Today: Giant Themed Class Options and Feats

Are these the first level-locked feats we've seen in 5e? I wonder if feats will expand into a warlock style invocations abilities for each class in 5.5e.

D&D 5E (2024) Is the 5E player base going to split?

Eh, my group stayed with 3e for awhile, and graduated to White Wolf and WEG’s Star Wars instead of 3.5. I didn’t come back to D&D until several years into 5e.

D&D General Your first D&D experiences?

My father had read both the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings to me as a child, and had introduced me to both Fritz Leiber and HP Lovecraft once I was old enough to read on my own. My mother, who just knew that her son seemed to be really into this "fantasy" stuff, out of the blue one day in the...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Beyond Will Delist Two Books On May 17th

Part 2 of the PhB doesn’t cover spell casting - would you regard a new iteration of D&D that completely reworked how magic worked to be completed compatible?

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Beyond Will Delist Two Books On May 17th

If I understand you correctly, that’s exactly the impasse - there are elements of 5e that I regard as substance that you regard as accidence. Not really a ‘right or wrong’ thing, just a difference of opinion. …that being said, I still don’t see the Berlusconi connection, unless we’re staying...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Beyond Will Delist Two Books On May 17th

That's at least how I recall the shift to 3.5e - technically compatible, but far different in fit and finish. I'm not arguing that 2024 characters are all going to be able to shoot lasers from their eyes at first level, but I do suspect that we're going to see material changes.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Beyond Will Delist Two Books On May 17th

At what point does it become a Ship of Theseus question? To @Jer 's point, we are kind of dancing on semantics, but I'm curious how far one could push changes to the game and describe it as technically compatible. I ask as a survivor of the 3e => 3.5e conflicts.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Beyond Will Delist Two Books On May 17th

Without wading into the debate - I'm fairly confident I agree with your overarching point - I'm not sure I agree with the idea that the classes shouldn't be viewed as part of the core rules. If they weren't, why are we shoehorning sorcerers and warlocks into Dragonlance? WotC seems to firmly...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Beyond Will Delist Two Books On May 17th

It was eight months ago, but they did put out a survey that was polling on pretty fundamental questions on how each class worked - reddit link, unfortunately they took the survey down. Really I suppose the debate hinges on how one defines the 'core rules'.
