Human Interest Story at Battle of Hoth

That's true. I have not yet gotten to the point where I feel secure enough going to a session with nothing prepared and letting the players run the show. That's my goal, but for now, I have to go with a "default" outline. If things don't go the way I plan in the outline, that's great...but I...

Human Interest Story at Battle of Hoth

Will do! Here is our party pic: From left to right: "Red Rancor" the pilot, Wes Jansen the gunner, Lamma the Force Sensitive street urchin from Ord Mantell, Captain Quakbar the smuggler/spacer, R1 the Astromech, Ven the advance scout, and looming in the back is "Joker" the assassin droid...

Human Interest Story at Battle of Hoth

I would very much like to thank everyone who contributed to this thread. I have so far gotten a lot of mileage out of your suggestions, and just last night ran my third FAE session of the Battle of Hoth. I used Razjah's idea of General Rieekan getting captured, and the party having to rescue...

Right on, Razjah! More great ideas! Will definitely try to integrate those as well.

Human Interest Story at Battle of Hoth

Exactly, WB. I like how FAE dismisses needless number crunching and focuses on telling the story...which is exactly what I want out of a super heroes and Star Wars game. This is especially true when you've got character maximizers / power gamers in the group. The system is so simple, that...

Human Interest Story at Battle of Hoth

Wednesday Boy, I really like that idea. Very emotional. I will add that in! Celebrim, great advice. Maybe I will suggest during CharGen that each player use one of their Aspect slots to create a relationship with one of the other PCs, to give the players the incentive to invest emotionally...

Human Interest Story at Battle of Hoth

Razjah, that is awesome. Thank you for that. I will definitely try to integrate as many of those suggestions as I can into the session. Much appreciated. Anyone else have any ideas?

Human Interest Story at Battle of Hoth

I'm running a one-shot FAE (Fate Accelerated) game set at the Battle of Hoth. We all know how the battle turns out. But I'm looking for a human interest story to drive the plot of the session and give it emotional impact. I'm looking for your help. I've created a boatload of pregens with...

Converting to FATE and starting a new campaign

I think that Barbarian Rage would work well just as an Aspect, and not a Stunt. If you must make it a stunt, consider using the Killing Stroke stunt on page 111 of the FATE Core rulebook (or a variation thereof). Some kind of "once per scene" and "spend a Fate Point" benefit to the Fight...

Dad's Proud Moment: Running for the Kids

Chapter 3: Cove of Horrors! Rockbert the blue-skinned half-dragon White Wizard, Trinity the purple-skinned Rainbow Fairy, and Princess Aurora of Flame Castle had the Ogres in a compromising position, hanging by their collars from the trees! They struck a deal: the Ogres would remove the...

Dad's Proud Moment: Running for the Kids

Chapter 2: Ogres for Hire! Rockbert the blue-skinned half-dragon White Wizard, Trinity the purple-skinned Rainbow Fairy, and Princess Aurora of Flame Castle followed the Fiume River north, and, along the way, found a tributary running low on water. A man lay, weakened, by the river bank...

    Help Me Understand Fate Core

Another thing to understand about FATE Core, is that the design team is very customer-oriented;they want to take care of their customers as best they can. They have an INCREDIBLE Google Community where questions like this can be answered immediately and by the developers themselves. Also...

    Help Me Understand Fate Core

Yeah, TW, it's extremely possible that other incarnations of Fate work as you said. But I just confirmed on the Fate Google Community that no FPs are given to the invokee for free invokes such as the first invocation of a Mild, Moderate or Severe Consequence in FATE Core.
