    D&D 5E (2014) Legends & Lore 7/21/14

D&D 5E (2014) Are you excited for the Backgrounds?

When I saw this on the playtest I was kind of "Why? I can create my background and my story, without the need of rules for this". But when I read it on the Basic Set I changed my opinion. About the hellhound thing. Guys it isn't a "feature" but a personality description. The hellhound is an example. This trait is for role play propose and not for "benefit during play". Imagine that you will fight orcs in a proportion of 3 to 1. You'll do it without fear. Your fellows companions...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Hobgoblin stat block

About the CR: the cleric sheet made it clear that it's more than a encounter build measure. It's an overall monster power metric. Some characters abilities will affect some monster depending of its challenge. See the "Destroy Undead" 5th-level ability on cleric sheet.
