    Elric of Melnibone

I’d love to see the Beeb tackle the Dark Empire of Granbretan. I can’t remember, is the BBC itself satirized at some point in the Hawkmoon books?

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

Hey, Larry suffered the great indignity of never being nominated for a Hugo for his books about shooting monsters with guns. Think of the suffering he endured. As for Elon... I'm kinda missing the days when he just missed the point of Culture novels.

D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

No need to lawyer this (apologies to all the lawyers here). The rules in the books are subordinate to the social contract between the people playing. As it was in the beginning, so shall it be in the end.

Players Don't Care About Your Setting

My players care about my settings! I mean, a little. It’s really all I can ask for.

D&D 5E (2024) The Problem with Healing Powercreep

I miss the ever-so-heroic multi-day medical camping from the old Baldur’s Gate I & II games. Nothing says adventure like clicking the ‘camp’ button again.

Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks Talks AI Usage in D&D [UPDATED!]

"Here at Buffalo Wild Wings we're incorporating AI..." This is how CEOs have to talk right now. I'd call it a bitter pill to swallow, but it's more of an amusing pill that's probably illegal. Except for the energy and water usage involved in running generative AI systems, which isn't funny at...

D&D General D&D 2024 does not deserve to succeed

That’s technically true, but it elides the fact that D&D has always had PC level advancement as a core mechanic. The game is literally built around becoming action heroes/superheroes, like most protagonists in the inspirational reading. Unless you’d like to make the argument a 10th level PC...

D&D General D&D 2024 does not deserve to succeed

Sure. Or course. I'm just not sure I want to mix PCs rebuilt using the 2024 rules with unmodified 5e PCs.

D&D General D&D 2024 does not deserve to succeed

I’m still reading through the 2024 PHB but my initial opinion is, yes, this deserves to succeed. Not sure about incorporating it into my ongoing campaign, however. 2 PC subclasses (Swarmkeeper ranger & Path of Wild Magic barbarian) don’t exist (yet).

D&D General D&D 2024 does not deserve to succeed

Good luck tilting at D&D! Say hi to Dulcinea and Rocinante for me. Also, maybe reconsider starting off with “what’s good for the gaming community…”.

Trailer Star Trek: Section 31 | Teaser Trailer | Paramount+

I do not think that is a good trailer. Especially given the Empress’s quality final episodes on DISCO with the Ed Asner-looking Guardian of Forever and weirdly poignant story of her personal growth set in the reliably violent and depraved Mirror Universe. That said, of course I’m going to watch it.
