D&D General What if the Wind Dukes of Aaqa were actually Djinn?

Thank you for that update. I didn't bring up Tenerbrous, but I am thankful to hear where he stands in the 5e lore.

D&D General What if the Wind Dukes of Aaqa were actually Djinn?

I agree, and you are as well. Almost all, likely all, references were Tiamat and Bahamut are described as "gods" (post FToD) are describing them from the humanoid perspective. In Fizban's (which we are free to ignore of course) it states that gods and primordial dragons are "ontologically...

D&D General What if the Wind Dukes of Aaqa were actually Djinn?

Of course, I was just talking about what the current lore is in D&D. I am all for making your own lore ( I do it myself), but I think it is interesting to know what the current lore is. Currently in D&D , based on the descriptions in Fizban's and the DMG (at least): What makes a God a God and...

D&D General How Do I Help Mentor a GM Making Rookie Mistakes?

DId you have a session 0? That would have been the best place to discuss some of these issues. At this point, I do think it is probably a good idea to have some type of discussion about it.

D&D General What if the Wind Dukes of Aaqa were actually Djinn?

I think you are misunderstanding the text. Here is the quote from the DMG: Bahamut (ba-HA-mutt) is one of the primordial dragons who (along with Tiamat) is said to have created the First World. For practical purposes, he is a god—ageless and immortal—who has dwelled in Mount Celestia (see...

D&D General What if the Wind Dukes of Aaqa were actually Djinn?

That makes a lot of sense. Of possible importance: I major factor in Marduk defeating Tiamat was using "arrows of wind" to force open her mouth and slay her by throwing is spear down her throat. I could see some version of this being a part of your dawn war with wind dukes playing a significant role

D&D General What if the Wind Dukes of Aaqa were actually Djinn?

Not quite true: Bahamut and Tiamat are not gods but primordial dragons per Fizban's (& 2024 core). Bahamut (& Tiamat) didn't predate the gods per Fizban's, they were just the first entities to make a material world. So you could say they predate the gods to the material plane, but not in the...

Jess Lanzillo Departs Wizards of the Coast

No it doesn't. I am not suggesting business should not fail. I simply stating that someone losing their job is generally not a good thing and not something I can feel happy about. Try not to read more into than necessary.

Jess Lanzillo Departs Wizards of the Coast

I, personally, just can't get excited about good, hardworking people losing their jobs.

Dragon Delves Dedicated to Chris Perkins

2024 dragons are definitely a tougher encounter than their 2014 counterparts and they generally have more interesting and thematic abilities too. However, I still think there is a lot of room for improvement.

    D&D General building better aberrations

I do like calamities as a descriptor / title for aberrations of great power. It fits that uncaring cosmic horror vibe of HPL and friends. I still like the term Elder Evil, but I agree it is not the best fit for aberrations.

D&D 5E (2014) Enhancing Vecna: Eve of Ruin *SPOILERS*

Yep. The only difference is the suggest was that Sigil was a base of operations before the ritual takes place. Though, IIRC the ritual spans many years so you point still stands. I guess I just suggested what was already established!

RPG CROWDFUNDING NEWS – Land of Eem, Dragonix's Deadly Denizens III, and more

As I quickly scrolled through this selection of crowdfunding projects I initial read "Land of Eem" as "Land of Fem." I think that is a different type of game entirely!

D&D 5E (2014) Enhancing Vecna: Eve of Ruin *SPOILERS*

I like a lot of the general ideas. My one caveat is that everything seems predetermined. I would prefer failure to be a real possibility and for there to be more than one potential avenue to victory. Also, what is the effect of Tasha's betrayal and what is her goal. As written it makes no...

An interesting twist might be that he relinquishes his god-hood to make Sigil his base?!

D&D 5E (2014) Giving monsters more (unlimited?) reactions in one turn

Why not just make a reaction cost 1? IMO, they should be looped in with the action economy. That is my issue with PF2. The have 3 actions + reactions which stand outside the action economy. IMO, either an action takes something (time, energy, resources, etc.) or it doesn't.

D&D 5E (2024) Rate My Avatar of Bane (Based on ENworlds Feedback).

Thanks - I wasn't aware. NPCs and Monsters can have whatever you want them too. Regardless though, that is just a guide for what abilities it might have.
