That is not entirely true. There were 3 distinct options you could see in D&D art: Dragon designs that generally followed the 1e MM / 2e MC. Dragons "in" official D&D products (modules, supplements, etc.) often (but not always) followed the general design (with artistic differences) of the MM...

They often will offer a cheaper non=painted version. I think I may wait for that one. I also dislike dragons wearing equipment, but I think I could remove them and be happy with the result. I really like this blue. I made add the ears back too.
