Have you converted your favorite novels into a campaign setting?

Wild Cards is the oldest shared setting going. They started in 1987 and released the 19th book in the series this year. There is a 20th that will be published soon and the deal has been signed for the 21st in the series. It's a gritty superheroes type of thing. The start was an alien virus...

Have you converted your favorite novels into a campaign setting?

A little off topic, but my favorite novels were already done. I've always beena fan of the Wild Cards shared setting and it's been done twice, once for GURPS and most recently for M&M. That said, I thnk it would be fun to do a take-off of Mary Gentle's Grunts where everybody plays Orcs.

    D&D Fan Site Toolkit

What it comes down to is each person with a fan site has to ask themselves a question. "Is it worth adhering to the terms of this license in order to use these images?" My guess is that in nearly all cases, the answer will be no. As to an actual fan site policy, my guess is the Hasbro legal...

    Do you consider 2nd edition AD&D "old-school"

2E was just 1E with some cleaned up mechanics. For example, THAC0 resulted in the same results as the old combat tables. You just calculated the tables in your head is all. In fact, I used 1E modules generally unmodified with 2E rules. The two editions were pretty much interchangeable. After 2E...

Do you have a local game store?

All I have locally is a Games Workshop. Games Plus IS excellent, but it's a one hour drive for me absolute minimum.

DDI - What's happening to the Virtual Game Table and Character Visualiser?

I'm considering a DDI subsctiption even though I'm not playing 4E at all right now. Mostly because of the unbiased opinions I've read from subscribers.

MtG, D&D and Me TITLE NAME EDIT-The thread where Joe apparently offends everyone

I'm 46. I started playing D&D in '77 with a white box that had three little brown books and a sheet of tables. After seeing the game evolve over the past 32 years, all I can say is it's all good.

Worst case scenario: Could WotC "break" the whole industry?

Worst case scenario, Hasbro shelves D&D and the OGL becomes the focus of RPGs for years to come. Hasbro will never ever sell D&D. Hasbro is not in the business of selling off their IP.

    A solution to Piracy--Navy SEALS!

I think they should resort to the time honored and tested Letters of Marque as a means to end piracy.

Forked Thread: How much does WotC policies matter to your enjoyment of the game

You know, at first I was angry, but I have a copy of most of the 1E and 2E stuff I wanted, so it ain't too bad for me personally. In fact, the whole debacle has actually been a good thing for me as it opened me up to explore other game publishers. M&M ios going to be getting a lot of play at my...

How Has the WotC PDF Situation Affected You REALLY?

That's not the point. The pioint is, WotC just made it harder for new players to have the option of starting with an older version. And doing that would be a strategic move. WotC want's its old versions DEAD as they are competition for the new version. When they tire of 4E (I predict within...

Forked Thread: How much does WotC policies matter to your enjoyment of the game

The Virtual Tabletop is vaporware. It will never be released. On top of that, they said in the books the thing would be available, it wasn't. They lied. You ignored it.
