[Forked Thread: The 3.5 renaissance!] Three Years in the future - What will WotC do?

    4) Shelve it. Under the conditions you've described, there's no compelling business reason to continue down the D&D road and no compelling business reason to sell off the IP. The IP may be generating a profit, but not enough profit. A product line simply being profitable is not enough in...

    Battlegraph dry erase Boards!

They look nice. Could I make 'em myself? Probably with some effort and a little trial and error. Do I want to try? HECK NO! I might have to get a set to check out.

    Why the World Exists

The answer is "Kender". The world exists for the entertainment of Kender, whether or not Kender are native to the world. Xyxox Law: Any world, given enough time, will be discoverd by Kender.

    Professional GM Diary: Final Preparations

Laid back about customers is one thing. Laid back about somebody running a business in space the cafe pays for might be quite a different thing.

do giants exist in dark sun?

That would be the B'rohg. They were 15' tall.

do giants exist in dark sun?

One of the easiest ways to judge the basic value as gaming material of any Dark Sun product is to look at the logo. HINT: Note the difference in the DS logo on the original campaign setting boxed set and the revised campaign setting boxed set. ;)

do giants exist in dark sun?

Yep, and a danged good thing I did. We only had one of the original characters survive through the entire campaign and two players got down to their third character.

do giants exist in dark sun?

I had a long running 2E Dark Sun campign. I realy loved the setting. Due to the lethality, I had every player roll up three different characters so they always had one prepared in case of death.

do giants exist in dark sun?

According to the Second Edition AD&D MC 12 Dark Sun Monstrous Compendium Appendix, there were three types of Athasian Giants; Desert, Plains, and Beast head. Desert and Plains Athasian Giants were the most common and were 20-25 feet tall. Beast head Athasian giants were the ones that lived on...

Will the WOTC Gametable return or is it dead forever?

As I stated in my original response to the question of giving them the benefit of the doubt, when they produce the game table, I'll begin giving them the benefit of the doubt again.

Will the WOTC Gametable return or is it dead forever?

Refusal to give WotC the benefit of the doubt based upon past performance is not an extreme. It's in fact, a highly conservative position because you ahve based it upon the performance already demonstrated in the area.

Will the WOTC Gametable return or is it dead forever?

It counts as much as E-Tools counted for a replacement to the promised Master Tools. They demoed the Virtual Gametable in every convention. They marketed the Virtual Gametable in all three core books. So the Character Builder counts for almost nothing. See above.

What were the design goals of 2nd edition?

I'm seeing a lot of speculation. Why not let the 2E PHB speak for itself?

Will the WOTC Gametable return or is it dead forever?

I haven't given WotC the benefit of the doubt where promised software is concerned since the great MAster Tools Vaporware debacle. When they deliver on promised software, I'll start giving them the benefit of the doubt again.

I think they bit off WAY more than they could chew.

Another Cease and Desist Letter: 4E Powercards

Try arguinig that before a judge. The damages are real. IT doesn't amtter that web site "A" charged nothing for the service. WotC charges $5/month for the same service and it's WotC's IP, thus the damages are real.

Another Cease and Desist Letter: 4E Powercards

The only price that can be paid for copyright infringement is a set of damages. So if ABC is ruled to be doing zero damage, there is no price to pay for the infringement and it can continue in perpetuity as it is doing no damage. Now, web site "A" who is offering a free service can be...

Another Cease and Desist Letter: 4E Powercards

That's a further loss of value in the copyright, but only if ABC role-playing can demonstrate WotC knew of the existance of site "A". That would be the key and there's no way of knowing until you go through discovery. And should WotC lose such a case, the value of the copyright becomes nil.

Another Cease and Desist Letter: 4E Powercards

You'd be wrong in that assumption.
