    D&D Movie/TV New D&D Movie: July 23rd 2021

I definitely would watch a D&D movie based on the cartoon. But I do not want a "fun" Guardians of the Galaxy style movie. It can be kid friendly and still be nuanced, adult, deadly, and heavy. I don't mind humor as long as it is organic and appropriate.

Designing RPG Adventures With the Players And Not the GM In Mind, Part One

I am not sure I entirely agree with Mr. Goodman. A module does indeed need to be written with its audience in mind, but the audience is the players and the game master, who is also a player though with different roles instead of just one. Ideally the module should be fun to run, without straying...

The Journey To...North America, Part One

I know one of the articles I read talked about that, though not sure if it is one of the ones I used or not. I think it is difficult to rule anything out at this point, but certainly ideas we had even just twenty years ago are being re-examined and new evidence is popping up all the time. I...

The Journey To...North America, Part One

So here we are on the shores of my home, the continent of North America where I want to talk about the indigenous people here. As this series of articles has gone on, it has grown into more than a just a collection of alternative myths that you or I can utilize in our campaigns. As more than a...

Cubicle 7 Wants You To Speak, Friend, Then Enter

This sounds good. I think dual stat will make sense for some of the products.

    The Storyteller's Vault Roundup

I imagine some of these ideas have been gestating for decades. The Storyteller's Vault really is a fantastic concept.

Dungeon Masters Guild Roundup: Random Loot

So you finally slew the Kobald Lich and her minions who have been harrying the kingdom for more than a year. Bloodied but satisfied you and your companions wander over to her pile of loot and start sifting through the valuables. You find a bag full of books; apparently Ashrital, Scourge of the...

Unearthed Arcana Four New Elf Subraces in Unearthed Arcana

Shadar-kai were originally shadow fey, at least way back in 3/3.5. I do realize they were changed for 4e at least for the Realms, but having them be an elven sub race does make a bit of sense, touching back to the 3e version. /shrug.

    Journey to...The Caribbean

Off the coast of the main American continents are a group of islands with their own cultures, histories, conflicts, and stories. Although influences from South America and eventually West Africa, Spain, and France wove their ways into the folklore of the Caribbean, the synthesis of these...

Fantasy Adventures In Other Worlds With OpenQuest

That can be an issue, but Training typically helps offset that somewhat. Improved Attributes / Characteristics also help and depending on how the skills are set up, improving one skill may help another. Regardless, I think experience systems are one of the most discussed mechanics of d100 games.

    Journey To...Mesoamerica

Anahuac is the region where the Aztecs thrived in pre-Colombian and pre-Cortes Mesoamerica. It is sometimes used to describe the Aztec empire, from what I can gleam from a quick glance at some source material. There were many Mesoamerican cultures that lay outside of this great valley as well...

    Journey To...Mesoamerica

Mesoamerica was a profoundly important region and set of cultures that arose independently in the region stretching from central Mexico to northern Panama. The pre-colombian cultures created powerful civilizations that flourished for thousands of years. Study of the cities and monuments of these...

    Journey To...South America

It can be difficult to separate out the true myths of any particular culture from stories told by explorers who came after. Perhaps those become part of the mythology as well, but we want to do our best to get as close to the root mythology as possible. This is doubly difficult in South America...

What Is an Experience Point Worth?

Experience Points in the various D&D editions (and some other games and OSR games) is very much everything that has been discussed. It is pacing and it is a judge of experience and a way judge the relative power of a character. In my own head XP are the hand of fate and the currency of the...
