Interview with Tomas Härenstam (Free League’s ALIEN RPG)

The artwork is beautiful. More importantly, the quickstart with the Cinematic play style rules is really good. I think they nail the cinematic mode right on. I went in as a skeptic and now I am stoked to play and see how Campaign goes. Maybe Tomas could pop on or follow up and talk about that?

    TSR TSR's Amazing Accounting Department

The inside stories are always the best or worst. This has a little of both! Great article.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Essentials Kit Offers a New Place to Start

Yeah if making those analogies, which are not 100%, the Starter Set is Red Box and Essentials would be closer to Blue Box or Expert set. Not to be confused with the Blue Holmes version of basic. lol. Too many boxes using the same color scheme.

RPG Crowdfunding News – Earthdawn, Wicked Ones, The Strapping Lads, Vigilante City 2, and more

I did not realize Earthdawn was on its 4th edition. May have to check that out. Dungeons & Delvers. Seems interesting but am not sold on more of the "more of everything" kind of book or release. Cool Kickstarters!

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Essentials Kit Offers a New Place to Start

This sounds useful. I have a couple groups of new players on my agenda and may go ahead and pick this up to smooth their transition into playing.

    D&D 5E (2014) Acquisitions Incorporated Takes Over D&D: A Review

Appreciate the good review. This confirms that there is nothing in this book I really need or want. But there is an audience for it and its good to know they will be pleased.

Rocket Age: Retro Sci-fi In Space For D&D

There definitely need to be more games set in eras like this. Very coo.

    GMing At A Convention

Sounds like a successful weekend. I really do love running convention games, even with the sore throat and tight seating.

D&D 3.x Jonathan Tweet: Prologue to Third Edition

Interesting article. I do appreciate that not everyone liked 2nd edition; I had some issues with it myself. But I think there is an inordinate amount of looking back and hindsight and forgetting how many great ideas and designers were spawned by 2nd edition. The changes were not that severe; it...

RPGA, Pathfinder Society and Adventurer's League - why are they all so terrible?

I won't say every DM or adventure of any organized play is perfect and beyond reproach. I will say that they are all volunteers, that they are rarely compensated in any meaningful way (A free badge is great but you have to put in 20+ hours in most cases to get one), and that creating content...

    Ashley Warren, Uncaged: An Interview

Uncaged Volume I sprang onto the scene in early March of 2019 and quickly became one of the best selling products on the DMs Guild. We caught up with Ashley Warren, who sparked a small fire that turned into a conflagration of creativity, and asked her a few questions about Uncaged and how it has...

Michael Prescott on Creating Trilemma, Adventures, and Sandboxes

Adventures are great and despite how many exist, there can never be enough. This looks like a lot of fun.

    Mythological Figures: Sherlock Holmes (5E)

A figure like Holmes is intriguing as an NPC or PC template. I am not sure that 5E is really designed to enable play like this, though it certainly doesn't stand in the way of investigation focused play. Very cool!

The Fantasy Trip: Decks of Destiny Interview with Phil Reed (CEO Steve Jackson Games)

Very informative. I do like the idea of cards as randomizers or as informing adventure and encounter design.
