I missed this the other day. There is supposed to be an app in the works that would allow offline access to DDB. No projected date on its release yet. That one isn't a big deal for me since I am rarely without a cellular connection.

We will never know for sure but it is interesting that Hasbro's CEO has recently stated that D&D sales are up 50% over 2016. Could the news of DDB and the launch of it's beta be helping those sales? Who knows.

From a functionality standpoint DDB will have all that at launch with full mobile access. That blows blows DDI out of the water (and I loved DDI). From the pricing standpoint DDI was a steal (especially with the amount of content being released).

What did DDI have that this doesn't? DDI didn't have full mobile capabilities.

You missed a huge component of DDB. Mobile access that is equal to desktop/laptop access. As far as the promise of DDB goes I have pretty high confidence that they will deleivered what was promised at launch since we have seen most of that functionality already.

Granted DDB isn't live yet. But which electronic platform does as much or more than the promise of DDB?

Does any other game have an electronic aid that offers everything that DDB has? Access to all official content in a searchable database (including adventures), integrated character builder, and all elements easily accessible on a computer, tablet, or smart phone?

I guess my premise/discussion item is that DDB is ahead of what others are doing at the table top.

Another conservative deration is that the free sub will have ads. I have no idea how instructive they will be so it might not be too bad. I was considering not subscribing then I decided to get the master tier so my kids and my group can have access to my content.

I have found that any older edition adventures work well for 5e.

In your example I would say that the sword bounces harmlessly off the jackalwere. Sort of like bullets off of Luke Cage.

Seems I am the first yes vote. I will be getting the three core books and a heroic subscription from day one. I will pick up the other older books eventually and will get all new books through this tool. Just deciding now whether to continue with buying physical books.

Another thing is that I can finally run the 5e APs. I prefer running things digitally when I can so I have been waiting for this.
