    Conan 2d20

I am happy to finally have the release of the new 2d20 version of Conan. I was a kickstart backer but have some mixed reactions about it. Even though it is a little crunchier than I would like I am really interested in the core mechanic and look forward to trying it out. I pledge the pdf...

    D&D 5E (2014) Hard Core Monster Manual

Just don't number it. Apparently numbers confuse video gamers. :)

Which official 5E adventures have you played through?

I did the LMoP but am waiting on the pdfs (or equivalent electronic versions) of the others to play them. I have been running older edition modules for 5e mostly.

    D&D 5E (2014) Hard Core Monster Manual

I have been playing around with converting 4e monsters to 5e to be able to use 4e resources for 5e play. I want something quick and easy that can be done in the fly. Here is what I am using. AC is calced based on equipment and dex. HP is 4e HP minus 20 (minus 40 for elites and minus 80 for...

Only 8 Days Left for “Flat Plastic Miniatures 2” on Kickstarter!

These look nice. Even though I have a large miniature collection I may pickup a set of these just to support the Kickstarter.

    D&D 5E (2014) A matter of weapons

In the game I play with the kids (where I mess with the rules more) I have weapon categories and in each category the weapon could be a sword/dagger, axe, spear/javelin, or hammer/mace/club. The categories are Thrown: d6 damage (ranged, light, finesse) 1-handed melee: d8 damage (finesse)...

    D&D 5E (2014) Your First Module

First one played was B2. First purchased one ran was either U1 (Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh) or DL1 (Dragons of Despair). I cannot remember. Back then we ran mostly home-brewed dungeons.

D&D 5E (2014) Mike Mearls on D&D (New Interview with James Introcaso)

LOL. Let me modify my statement and say that this edition is missing electronic versions of the books that don't require a VTT to use.

D&D 5E (2014) Mike Mearls on D&D (New Interview with James Introcaso)

I really like the edition and don't mind the release schedule. The only additional material beyond the core 3 are adventures and monster books and that is what we are getting. What I really want is electronic versions of everything. That is the only thing this edition is missing IMO.

Episode VII and Rey (Total Speculation)

I don't think there will be los either, but I suspect the Jedi will be on the rise.

    Has anyone fixed range bands?

You can look at another Star Wars RPG and use the ranges from there. I was thinking about doing this.

Episode VII and Rey (Total Speculation)

Agreed. In the SW universe the force can act through you without you knowing about it.

Episode VII and Rey (Total Speculation)

Did she? I thought the story was she had a lot of simulator time but never actually flew a ship before.

RPG Evolution: How a RPG Changed the Star Wars Universe

I agree. While I think FFG is pretty easy to play at the table I really dislike the character building elements and much prefer the simpler 1e d6 simpleness. I do love the FFG dice mechanic though and am looking for a way to combine the two.

Episode VII and Rey (Total Speculation)

I like the theory that Rey is the reincarnation of the choosen one/Anakin Skywalker.

    D&D 5E (2014) Monster group stealth

I would roll once for the hag and once for the bullywugs. For PCs I always have each PC roll. A weak link makes for good stories.

D&D 5E (2014) Solving the problem of initiative.

Just brainstorming but you could have everyone write down in secret what they are doing that round and everyone goes simulateously. It would be tough for the DM with multiple monsters. Personally I am fine with the official system.
