    D&D 5E (2014) Rogues & damage...

What was awesome about the old school thief was that he was situationally brilliant. There were times he (or she) could just shine. I remember stepping out of a fog cloud and destroying a cleric with a back stab in one game. I also remembering climbing a wall to disarm a "laser ray" while...

    D&D 5E (2014) Rogues & damage...

Talking 1E (didn't play Basic much) I don't how you get to 35 and 90. Only the weapon damage was modified so it would be something like 3d6 or 4d6 + magic . Our thieves didn't have super rare magic items so the +7-14 from the strength items wasn't there. Once specialization entered the game...

    D&D 5E (2014) Rogues & damage...

The Rogue was a striker in 4E and could do some serious damage. I don't recall it being the best melee damage dealer but it was certainly better than 1E and 2E. Personally, I think the rogue should be good in combat in the right situation. The bonus damage when having advantage seems like...

D&D 5E (2014) Behind the design of 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons: Well my impression as least.

Are you talking about the -5/+10 feats? Because I play 5E like 5 times a month with three different groups and I don't see this great in balance you're referring to.

    D&D 5E (2014) The Rogueish Shenanigans!

And to the answer the OP question, our rogue is a whirling dervish. He moves in and out with cunning action, and when he is in combat he usually uncanny dodges half of it. He is the most mobile character we have seen (even more so than the 50' monk).

    D&D 5E (2014) The Rogueish Shenanigans!

The rogue in our game deals as much damage as the barbarian. He is +7 doing 4d6+4 at 5th level The barbarian is 1d12+6. The melee warlock is usually 1d12+1d6+4. Now, the warlock and barbarian get two attacks a round so when they hit twice they usually outpace the rogue but that's hardly...

D&D 5E (2014) Amazon and the DMG: What's the story?

ME too. I always thought it was because I live a mile away from an enormous Amazon warehouse. Guess I am not special....

D&D 5E (2014) Looking for cool evil grunts

I have always wanted to run a "Against the WereSomething" campaign. Orcs and Orogs can be reskinned as lesser werewolves and such. A werewolf druid is going to be one of my next NPC's I make.

    D&D 5E (2014) Removing alignments

My games have more or less been "alignment free" for years. We haven't noticed any hiccups in 5E because of that.

D&D 5E (2014) Surprise with a fight in progress is possible?

If you want to mechanically memic "surprise" you have the bad guys roll initiative and then delay (or ready their action) until the last guy goes. Then they attack with advanatge and if they won initiaitive they go again.

    D&D 5E (2014) Mithril Armor?

I don't have the books but I am pretty sure I read it somewhere. It's no disadvantage on stealth checks and you don't need profiency to wear it......I think.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5th Level Monk Question

So a 5th level monk with a 16 DEX, wielding a quaterstaff can attack three times at +6 doing 1d8+3 twice (main attack) and then +6 doing 1d6+3 (bonus action). Using Flurry of Blows, she could take a 2nd bonus action at +6 doing 1d6+3. Is that right?

D&D 5E (2014) How to Deal Uber Damage

Pact magic (warlock) doesn't work like the other spellcasting classes. A Sor3/War2 can cast 4/2 (?) + their 2 Warlock slots.
