    D&D 5E (2014) Best Vicious Mockery insults?

Our's are usually raced based..... "You hit like a goblin" to an ogre or "You look skinny" to a dwarf One pretty Catholic guy once mocked a cleric with "Your Holy Days of Obligation, don't even have any gift exchanges!" I am almost positive he passed his save.

    D&D 5E (2014) Cool Special Attacks for a "Pirate"

I am running an encounter with pirates tonight and want them to play out more complicated than a bag of it points. I am looking for suggestions to give them neat, special attacks or abilities. Currently my list is: 1. Using a net to restrain 2. Lifting up the eye patch to show a mangled eye...

    D&D 5E (2014) Creating a school D&D club: Rolling Again!

I run a club for 5th-11th graders. We average between 4-8 kids per week. More than half are girls as well. I usually DM but some years a kid takes over. I think 3 of the 6 years someone has stepped up. This year I ran keep on the borderland for about 10 sessions. It was pretty fun. I am...

Resisting boredom, int or wis save?

I am designing an encounter where the PCs are forced to listen to a long story about something they don’t care about. Kinda like school. I was going to throw in a saving throw to avoid zoning out. Should the save be wisdom or int?

Unearthed Arcana New Unearthed Arcana: Revised Artificer

I see your point on three, that seems pretty reasonable as a trade off.

I mean , the flip side is that Elemental Weapon isn't exactly a "must have" 3rd level spell.....

Unearthed Arcana New Unearthed Arcana: Revised Artificer

It's actually way better (maybe not way) than hex and hunters mark because: 1. You never need to use a bonus action to switch targets 2. ALL the weapon damage is magical, not just the d6. 3. You can take advantage of creaturess with vulnerabilites.

Unearthed Arcana New Unearthed Arcana: Revised Artificer

I like how they made a third level spell a first level: Arcane Weapon 1st-level transmutation Casting Time: 1 bonus action Range: Self Components: V, S Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour You channel arcane energy into one simple or martial weapon you’re holding, and choose one damage...

Making a combat on the docks "interesting"?

I am starting to brainstorm a combat that occurs on the docks of a small city. In a nutshell, BAD GUYS A are going to sneak BAD GUYS B into the city. Bad guys A are going to cause a distraction on the wharf allowing BAD GUYS B to go get the mcguffin. I am looking for some interesting ideas to...

Monsters with a connection to the Ethereal Plane

I am designing an encounter that involves dealing with the Ethereal Plane but am coming up pretty sparse with my knowledge of monsters that would be or can travel to the Ethereal Plane. Right now I have phase spiders and ghosts. I am willing to just give the ethereal jaunt ability to...

D&D 5E (2014) What would an ogre mage’s journal sound like?

It's really a journal and a collection of letters. I did include some poems though, I liked that idea!

D&D 5E (2014) What would an ogre mage’s journal sound like?

What would an ogre mage’s journal sound like? I want to write an oni’s journal for one of my games. What would be an ogre mage’s style? I was thinking haughty and arrogant.

D&D 5E (2014) So what can you do after you disarm an opponent?

Yeah I am cool with that but then it's just as difficult for the bugbear to pick up the sword on his turn right?

D&D 5E (2014) So what can you do after you disarm an opponent?

Interacting with Objects Around You Yeah, I guess this is just another example of DM interpretation. The interaction rules state this: Here are a few examples of the sorts of thing you can do in tandem with your Movement and action: *draw or sheathe a sword *open or close a door...

    D&D 5E (2014) Epic Monsters: Black Shuck (5E)

I like it! I first read about Black Schuck in a kids mythology book I bought at school book fair. I used it in my game as protector of an ancient graveyard. I just reskinned a hell hound, changed the fire to necrotic and added some HD. I think i like your version better, especially the...

D&D 5E (2014) So what can you do after you disarm an opponent?

" If every fight against what's supposed to be a high level BBEG with a weapon ends with "Ha! Got your sword!" it would get old quick because it would start to feel like an "I win!" button." How, in your opinion, is that different from something like hold person? I am honestly interested, I...
