The Actual Table of Contents for Xanathar's Guide to Everything

I'm pretty sure this factually useless argument is factually useless.

D&D 5E (2014) Tomb of Annihilation in Eberron

A thought just now inspired by CrimsonCarcharodon... Haven't even looked at ToA, though, so don't know if this fits... PCs are recruited by some noble/dragonmarked/general/etc. patron who was resurrected at some point and is now suffering from the death curse. He thinks its just him, and has...

D&D Reader App Coming This Fall? [UPDATED]

This is just such a weird announcement. What does this Reader offer that Beyond doesn't do already? Bookmarks, turning pages by sliding? That's it? I'm pretty confident, too, that Beyond will integrate such features soon, judging by their excellent communication with users and adaptability...

D&D Beyond Launches -- Electronic Tools For D&D Are Here!

Can someone quickly refresh my memory on what is available in the books versus the srd? Specifically? I know the SRD is missing subclasses, backgrounds, and a few spells that are in the PHB. But besides a couple magic itrms and a couple monsters, what does the DMG and MM have to offer over...

    D&D 5E (2014) DND Beyond Pricing announced.

So, I haven't seen an example of what you get when you purchase a whole book. I'm guessing all crunch is automatically incorporated into the search. But other than that, what do you get for your one-time purchase?

D&D Beyond Launches on August 15th for $3-6/m

Probably not going to happen, but would be cool, useful, and satisfy nearly everyone. When purchasing a book for DDB, with all it's integrated functionality, have it simply come with a downloadable pdf. Get both for the same cost of the book.

D&D 5E (2014) Survivor Worst Spells: FIND TRAPS IS THE WORST!

Find Traps 21 True Strike 21 In the end, true strike costs two actions to roll two die, but with more restrictions than attacking twice. Find Traps at least has the potential to be useful. True strike never can.

D&D 5E (2014) Survivor Worst Spells: FIND TRAPS IS THE WORST!

Drawmij's Instant Summons 9 Feign Death 13 I'd rather just pretend to be dead. Find Traps 31 Mordenkainen's Sword 13 True Strike 42 Weird 13 At least it does something.

D&D 5E (2014) Survivor Worst Spells: FIND TRAPS IS THE WORST!

Drawmij's Instant Summons 17 Feign Death 21 Find Traps 28 With a human DM, and using RAI, I think it's a fair spell that fulfills its purpose. Mordenkainen's Sword 18 At least upon reading true strike you realize immediately how bad it is. M Sword is not so obvious at first glance True Strike...

D&D 5E (2014) Survivor Worst Spells: FIND TRAPS IS THE WORST!

Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting 20 Barkskin 20 Blade Ward 18 Drawmij's Instant Summons 26 Feign Death 21 Find Traps 24 Friends 22 Good point about disguise self. Divine Word 20 Mending 6 Mordenkainen's Sword 23 I want to like this spell, but it's impossible to find ways to justify it at its level...

    D&D 5E (2014) What's the worst spell?

Actually, the text of time stop doesn't reference attacks at all, and literally says it "doesn't allow you to affect someone." Your example of giving someone items would be a borderline case, in that the DM could easily construe it to "affect an object being work or carried by someone." The...

    D&D 5E (2014) What's the worst spell?

Kinda surprised no one has at least mentioned time stop. Possibly not the strictly worst spell, especially since it's defensive and flavorful in nature, but it does actively prevent you from dealing damage. One could say, it has a "negative damage per round" cost. It costs you 1 Action to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Burning doors with firebolt

Agree with what others have said about practibility. Who said doors are flammable? Just because it's made of wood doesn't mean it's immediately flammable, especially from any old piss-mote of flame and a paltry 1d10. Without kindling, or an already roaring campfire, that solid door is not...

D&D 5E (2014) What's after Tomb of Annihilation? (Ridiculously premature speculation on 2018 releases)

Pretty sure, at this point, it won't happen. But definitely want. Eberron AP, complete with dragonmark crunch, Five Nations fluff, and a great mystery noir adventure.

    D&D 5E (2014) DM advice, PC's backstory - Eberron draconic Sorcerer

My thought? Do nothing, for now, and let the background she's developed sit. As a DM, I know world-building, having explanations, and working everything out beforehand is a huge temptation. But sometimes (often, actually) it's better to let ideas percolate and come to fruition organically...

    D&D 5E (2014) Eberron 5e - What do we want?

Although I'm also fond of the idea "just give PCs and extra feat at 1st level," I think Jester Canuck's idea of using an attunement slot is also perfect. On a power level as a feat, and bif you want to run a higher-powered Eberron, just add more attunable slots!
