4e sold "power up" cards briefly. They were random and gave you a small hand of cards you'd play to give yourself perks during play. If you were willing to throw money at it, you could build yourself a cooler deck than those who didn't. WotC swore non-card users would not be at a disadvantage...

I'd love the facilities to be examples. It'd be great if players could start a bastion at any level, as long as they can afford to start one. Unusual abilities could be added, but not necessarily from a predetermined list. I'd maybe want a particular facility not listed or have my garden do...

We made characters for Supernatural but weren't too sure about the system. We translated our characters into Fate and had a great time. The Supernatural book worked great as a resource, however.
