I don't know how the rules changed, but in the UA, bastions were very abstract. One I didn't like was that Bastion Events only happened when players were away. There was no way to appoint a steward and the meeples could just up and leave on a bastion event roll. This might result in no income...

If I'm remembering the UA correctly, your bastion being attacked lost you a room and meeples, at worst. Ruin of the Bastion happened if you neglected the Bastion by not giving Bastion orders for too long. Removing Ruin does not necessarily mean bastions are free from attack.

If this is true, I really hope the random rolls of the Bastion "meeples" disappearing are gone or modified more logically.

I looked it up. No Cha bonus in 3e. They got a bonus to diplomacy in 3.5 but not Cha. In 4e, a bonus to Cha is one of the stat boost choices. And of course, 5e cemented it. Been a slow build up.

This looks like a fun one, and there's probably some way to integrate it into a non - solo rpg, as well. Not sure how but it's been pinging around my brain.

Which is why I vastly prefer Combat Maneuvers. There are more tactics involved if you are not just automatically doing the Weapon Mastery over and over again. There's a little more creativity involved with A5e as well.

I'm not buying the new edition, but it's painful because I love the alternate cover and the art. I want to want it, but the changes pushed the game over the line.

But if you have set up a good plan and the enemy blows their perception vs your stealth or hide rolls, how are they ever able to act first? The stealth/hide were your successful planning. How do they react before the archer they haven't even noticed?

I'm running it right now! The players have a sloop named "Moon Lady" and just upgraded the sails. One of them is having way too much fun with the Mummified Monkey Head relic.
