    TRAILBLAZER - PDF Release - Discussion/Questions/Errata

I'm wondering if the pathfinder rule has too little downside for the specialist wizard. More spells most of the time, but still retaining much of the flexible spell selection of a generalist wizard.

    TRAILBLAZER - PDF Release - Discussion/Questions/Errata

What do you think of the Pathfinder rule for specialist wizards? They can cast spells from their opposition schools, but it takes them two slots per spell. edit: if I understand the reasoning behind the numbers of the "Spellcasting Ability" table on p.15 of the PDF, the bonus spell per spell...

I don't understand the connotations of the trees that have just appeared in the story hour. Is it more appropriate that Cherry be in the Abyss than, say, Beech?

    TRAILBLAZER - PDF Release - Discussion/Questions/Errata

But why do spells with durations of 10 minutes/level or longer expire at the end of a rest period? You've had good reasons for the other things I had misgivings about- I'm sure there's a good reason for this feature, too. What is it?

    TRAILBLAZER - PDF Release - Discussion/Questions/Errata

If it was just the Rote spells that expired, this would be perfect. But mind blank and MCaE are not rote spells, not even when cast on oneself. Or are they? Could you remind me again why long-duration spells are dispelled when you rest? Suppose a vampire has dominated your character. Why...

    TRAILBLAZER - PDF Release - Discussion/Questions/Errata

I hadn't realized that 4E "flattened" all the saves the way they did. I suppose it is not so bad if most characters have good Fort and Will and poor Reflex. Although classes which have access to Evasion would have an incentive to get good Reflex saves. OK, I'm happy with the saves, now. :)...

    TRAILBLAZER - PDF Release - Discussion/Questions/Errata

I'm a bit confused. Is the 10 minute rest supposed to be the equivalent of a day's rest or not? If it is true that "...the 10-minute rest is nothing more than an agreement between the players and the DM to hand-wave 10 minutes instead of hand-waving a day" then the restorative effects of a 10...

    TRAILBLAZER - PDF Release - Discussion/Questions/Errata

A few thoughts. Mostly things that I have doubts or misgivings about. In no particular order except the last: I have serious worries about the rest mechanic. the big six I have my doubts about the analysis of the big six. Suppose a party with the big six encounters an "optimal encounter"...

    TRAILBLAZER - PDF Release - Discussion/Questions/Errata

I don't think that's right. Suppose the save DC is relatively easy (50% chance of success) but it is of critical importance- enough to spend an AP on. Spend it on the exploding die, and you've added a 20% chance to your save. Your overall chance of success has risen from 50% to 70% for the...

    TRAILBLAZER - PDF Release - Discussion/Questions/Errata

This. The last spoiler block in the link cleared it all up. I had thought that iterative attacks were based on character level, not BAB, and I got confused. The bit about saving throws being based on character level is really neat. But it's a trifle obscure. In the class redesign section you...

    Trailblazer now available!

Should questions about the PDF be posted here, or in the General Rules forum? I have a question about the Monk's flurry of blows. Or maybe it's about the rules for iterative attacks. Or maybe it's about the centered bonus. But somebody needs to walk me through how (say) the monk gets...

Splendid! I hope the introduction of these characters entails that they will be making an appearance in the story. Every time I think that things cannot possibly be ramped up further... they are. It's amazing how you can use the bulky rules engine to create such beauty.

I imagine you are familiar with the Tree of Life. In my own system of correspondences the path from Binah to Tipheret is matched to Scorpio and the Major Arcanum of Death. Tipheret, of course, is associated with the Sun, so is a good stand-in for Oronthon. Binah is dark and negative, so can...

Pathfinder 1E [Pathfinder] Well done, Paizo! (Pathfinder RPG)

If you target a creature, you make one roll, and starting with the most powerful active spell, you use your result against the DC (11 + spell caster's level) to see if it's dispelled. If not, you go to the next lower ability and see if the number you rolled would beat that. And so on until an...

More random thoughts on divine ranks. I was reading an old post by fusangite about what he calls 'metatext' and it got me thinking about one of the hidden patterns in the campaign: namely, that the overarching cosmologies presented by five different perspectives – Oronthonist, Uediian...

Fascinating numerical speculation. Funny, though, that neither 60 nor 72 are significant in this schema.

Variant Class Features question-- Something for Nothing??

Alternatively you can enforce a penalty of *some* sort at the indicated levels. The guy who dips into ranger doesn't get his ability increase at 4th level, or loses an ability of whatever class he *is* in at 4th level. Similarly for other classes. When the bill comes due, they have to pay...

    Aeon (updated 10/9/14)

That's the truth! But Hlioth's demise and return were anticipated: "Quiet your ego!" Hlioth snapped. "And for once, do as I say. I will be busy dying elsewhere. Do not mourn. I will be back ere sunrise." "Hence, I mourn." As long as you aren't soul-trapped, death is just a time-out.

    Aeon (updated 10/9/14)

So many interesting events are transpiring... angels falling into Viridescence, Shvar Choryati lurching towards Wyre; if the Enforcer goes after the Anantam, the Chesnite victory will be hollow indeed... Ninit apparently down... Sibud's token in the hands of the good guys... Soneillon recovered...
