Pendragon 6E Gets An April Release Date!

I imagine it will be like D&D where you can run the game with just the PHB if you had too. Still I'm looking at my 5.2 Edition and wondering what they could leave out and push to a later book, and still have a playable game. Technically you could leave out the chapter on family background...

Pendragon 6E Gets An April Release Date!

Hopefully it is like the Investigators Handbook and Keeper's Rulebook for Call of Cthulhu, where you only really need the one to play. The fact there is no news of a release date for the Gamemaster's Handbook and the Player's is called the "Pendragon Core Rules" hopefully implies the game is...

Not sure about the two books where one use to do.

    D&D 5E (2024) How to import "race" flavor into D&D 2024 inclusively

I'm a strong believer in the mechanics reflecting the flavour, and vise versa. It usually leads to a strong sense of verisimilitude. Although by that I mean real to the game world, not the real world, so for example Doctor Who's initiative system where fighting only comes after exhausting other...

    D&D 5E (2024) How to import "race" flavor into D&D 2024 inclusively

Totally agree, very bland, but it seems to be what WotC think people want with stuff like their removal of racial stat modifiers, size modifiers for weapons, every background/culture available to every character, etc.

    D&D 5E (2024) How to import "race" flavor into D&D 2024 inclusively

Yes that's the point you could offset a lot of penalties of size by class choice, but then that's a restriction, and they got rid of racial stat mods, because it favoured certain classes so, having size modifiers favouring certain class options is going to be just as unpopular.

    D&D 5E (2024) How to import "race" flavor into D&D 2024 inclusively

Lower damage for small characters was never popular in 3rd Ed. Not sure there is a good reason to bring it back even if it makes sense.

    D&D 5E (2024) How to import "race" flavor into D&D 2024 inclusively

If every ancestry is getting it and they can put it anywhere then it isn't really tied to or have anything to do with their ancestry.

Games I own that I'll never play (again)

All the games I mentioned before I wouldn't mind playing again, even Star Wars (so long as I wasn't running it). There is really only one game I would never play or run again even if offered money. 7th Sea 2nd Edition - A setting that should be full of drama and tension has it completely sucked...

Games I own that I'll never play (again)

Could pretty much list my whole collection... :( Things I almost definitely won't play again, but have played and worthy of mention. Shadowrun 1st Ed to 4th - Rules got progressively more complex with each edition, just not the sort of thing I'd like to play, rather play a real cyberpunk game...

Not the same thing, but similar, The Last Day by Andrew Hunter Murray, is a novel based on an Earth that has become became tidally locked.

RPGing and imagination: a fundamental point

You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means. The Skill Challenge framework, is a system that determines how many success are going to be needed. By the fact it has a system, means it isn't arbitrary "based on random choice or personal whim, rather than any reason...

    Spoilers Rebel Moon-my spoiler review

It was bad. It was so bad. It was so very very bad. Unfortunately it took itself too seriously to be laughably so.

I want my actions to matter

It isn't a case of challenging the GM we are talking about here, but what the actual rules say. Sure the GM can set whatever DCs they like, they could make free climbing the North Face of the Eiger, DC 5 if they like but that isn't what the rulebook suggests. That's because the vast majority...

I want my actions to matter

You go anything to back up that claim, as you know it is a rulebook. I would say it is more detailed than the DMG as it breaks down each skill, rather than just giving ball park examples like the table in the DMG.

I think you missed the part where I said even the Rogues (who got 8) complained about a lack of skill points.
