I will admit the ending has seemed almost pre-ordained for years now. I'm sure Matt would allow things to end a different way, he's always been willing, but the players just haven't made any big plot changing decisions... so everything is sliding towards the place you knew it was going.

There's no real issue with having multiple types. 5E doesn't even prevent things from having multiple types if the DM wants them to have multiple types. It's just silent on the subject.

It's an understood Magical [Blank]. Magical Beast, Magical Humanoid, Magical Giant. It allows for augmented versions of any other type, without the unnecessary restriction of being just Beasts.

They can drop the "Beast" part and just use Magical as a catch-all for things greater than their origins (but not a Monstrosity).
