D&D General Harshest House Rule (in use)?

If I understand correctly, they want the character interacting with the world as much as possible. You wouldn't ask the DM what your character knows, you would actually talk to NPCs or go to the place and explore personally. There's no "Blood, what do I know about the mayor?" Instead there is "I...

D&D General Harshest House Rule (in use)?

I would use the words "Isekai-adjacent" or "Avatar game." As in, you're playing yourself and what you personally know, just transported into a fantasy world. Even if the characters are not actually from our world magically appearing in your world, the play experience seems similar.

D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Impressions and Surprises from real play Experiences

Tremorsense says "the same surface or the same liquid." So my reading is that a creature with tremorsense on stone can sense things on stone, but not in liquid. If they were in a liquid, they could sense things in the liquid, but not the stone nearby. This gives some flexibility for ground and...

D&D General Need AD&D research assistance re: Towers on edge to Negative Energy Plane?

There are a lot of people begging Legend of Vox Machina to cast Mark Hamill as Vecna. Some old images, but it shows CR are definitely aware of it:

Vecna really deserves all those Skeletor jokes. 💀

    D&D 5E (2024) Is Friends + Beguiling Twist OP?

Start developing narcissistic tendencies. Spend long minutes gazing blissfully into mirrors and lakes.

D&D 5E (2024) Did you make up your mind about 5.24?

Accepting that there will be some unnecessarily vague wording and some unbalance in every edition, I like most of the changes in 5.5e. I especially love the thunderous amount of art. It's practically an art book!

D&D General Watch the Baldur's Gate 3 Cast Play 'What We Do In The Shadow-Cursed Lands'

Do NOT get her wet, and do NOT feed her after midnight!

    D&D 5E (2024) DMG 5.5 - the return of bespoke magical items?

Agreed. I've made an intentional effort to include more downtime in my games, but I naturally lean towards fast paced story arcs that happen over the course of a week or two per arc. And when I do include downtime opportunities, it's usually just a week unless I'm doing a big time skip after a...

D&D 5E (2014) Which character in dnd should be the example of the warlord?

Tanis or Laurana also pops into my head, but Bane is a hilarious option that would monopolize on BG3. His quips and narration would probably be far more amusing than poor Tanis or Laurana.

D&D 5E (2014) What is the "Simple" Full Casting Class?

I don't think there's anything really wrong with it. You can contribute in combat with very little investment, and save most of your resources for other things. I would love invocations for other cantrips, though!

Whatever raw materials are necessary for the Shield spell are about to see a spike in demand!

The Legend of Vox Machina Renewed for Fourth Season

Yeah, not much dumbing down in the series unless you count streamlined spellcasting down to a handful of iconic abilities. I actually appreciate that the show has a relatively limited amount "character shouts what is happening, so the audience understands." Some of the new content is downright...

D&D General Game Night Is Well Catered With These Official D&D Meat Sticks

I thought they were saying those meats play those classes: Duck Barbarians, Bovine Bards, Alligator Rogue, Yak Wizards, etc. :D

D&D General Harshest House Rule (in use)?

Hahaha. Yeah, after I had to sit out an entire 8 hour session waiting for my character to be introduced (the DM insisted it make perfect narrative sense), we kicked up a big fuss and now new characters are introduced in random unplausible and potentially ridiculous ways. BOOM! You find them...

D&D General Harshest House Rule (in use)?

Back in my day, you rolled 1HP and your fighter put down his sword and grabbed a bow! Shakes fist dramatically.

D&D General Harshest House Rule (in use)?

No idea! It was in the golden age of AD&D. I vaguely remember he wanted to do something Westmarches-ish, and really strongly argued that everyone should get a fair chance to play and not have the same few people always taking the spots. So this was his idea of a forced rotation? Maybe he just...
