D&D General Which non-D&D races would like to see in Dungeons and Dragons?

Probably mental dissonance. I had some strong dissonance from hobbit-proxies and real life gods being in D&D. I came to accept it, just like I could eventually accept Wookies in D&D, but it would take time. I still give Mook from Wizardry a sideways glance now and then!

D&D General Do You Use a DM Screen?

Never really have. I roll in the open (but don't always explain why), and have piles of papers and a few books open, that's it. Once laptops were common, I suppose that unintentionally became a screen.

    D&D General Killing Gods

I don't mind killing gods (the race) if there is sufficient MacGuffin involvement, often highly symbolic or resonant to the mythology of the god in question. I wouldn't let some PCs rock up and defeat one through HP damage. But I would definitely let players seek out shards of the tree Odin hung...

    D&D 5E (2014) Strength bows?

We used to do something like this in modern 5E games. Strength Shotguns to represent heavier material / bigger explosion / more recoil. At least, as an alternative to just scaling the damage die itself.

D&D 5E (2014) Baldur's Gate 3 won so many awards that it started to "affect development"

There are certainly some characters in PoE2 that suggest the process of new souls entering the setting will never be restarted, dooming everyone eventually. But I never took those as statements of absolute fact. Even when Rymrgand suggests it, it's opposed by Eothas saying he didn't know but had...

D&D General A Gnome and a Halfling have a Baby. What is it?

The 0 rolled around to 255? :geek:

D&D General A Gnome and a Halfling have a Baby. What is it?

A goblin. Any progeny between the small races results in a goblin. :ROFLMAO:

D&D 5E (2014) Players, would you play in a multi-year campaign that used only the 5.1 SRD?

Little known fact. Kender are said to have created the first Bags of Holding, and spread them across the realms.

D&D 5E (2014) Players, would you play in a multi-year campaign that used only the 5.1 SRD?

Brown paper is the race, bag is the class. You could be a plastic bag, or a cardboard box for example.

D&D 5E (2014) Players, would you play in a multi-year campaign that used only the 5.1 SRD?

Takes me a week. Have to assemble the appropriate vibes, change my mind a few times, angst about the name for days, etc.

D&D 5E (2014) Players, would you play in a multi-year campaign that used only the 5.1 SRD?

I would play a brown paper bag if the DM was good enough.

Seriously, it's ora ora ora style! :geek:

D&D General Race Has No Mechanics. What do you play?

Play a Plasmoid, and try to squeeze through small places anyway.

    Ora-ora-ora style, I assume.

D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone play 5e Perception rules as written?

Hilariously, they have burned themselves before. I don't call for anything like that during a fight unless someone gets immersed in dragon's breath or the like, but I have called for it when the party is frantically running away. Once they even left an oil trail the enemies could follow! I...

D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone play 5e Perception rules as written?

That's honestly why my party doesn't bother with torches. The bullseye lanterns are on belts, the continual flames are on mining helmets, and the rocks with light spells are often being hauled around by mage hands ahead of the party, etc. It's like torches are lava, unless they are being put...

D&D 5E (2024) What happened to proficiency bonus times per day?

We saw that feature Proficiency Times, so now we won't see it again until after a Long Rest.

D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone play 5e Perception rules as written?

There's also a rule about when you lose your passive perception due to distraction, such as map making or similar activities while adventuring. That implies but does not outright state that you have your passive in most other situations. Or possibly just when adventuring - a time you might...
