Lord Ogglebottoms Odd Tasks: All in a Nights Work (DM: DMDanW, Judge: Renau1g)

The trigger is a Civilized, Bloodied ally targeting an enemy. Before his attack is made, my trigger is fulfilled and the attack goes off.

Discussion: Devils and Demons in L4W Cosmology

The adventure I'm planning involved a traditional dungeon, and touches on the Underdark. It doesn't have to extend into the greater Depthworld, but it can, and whether it will is a decision I was holding off on until I got the first adventure complete and running.

Lord Ogglebottoms Odd Tasks: All in a Nights Work (DM: DMDanW, Judge: Renau1g)

Minharath glides smoothly away from the entrance, prayers rolling from him like water over a glistening cascade. The hallway, north of the room, is suddenly brought to your mind. Could there be more coming? A warmth fills you, but it is not the warmth of joy, or the warmth of acclaim. It is a...

Adventure: The Power of Knowledge (DM: Fragsie, Judge: TwoHeadsBarking)

"Unfortunately, we cannot stay with them. We are engaged by the city to investigate the source of this..." Trailing off, Andrec gazes around him at all the victims. After depositing the children in the care of the priests, Andrec turns to his guide, saying "My name is Andrec, and I will return...

Discussion: Devils and Demons in L4W Cosmology

I agree with the idea of a log, detailing who has foughtwhom. It would also be convenient if foiled or publicly known plots are recorded here as well. And adventures currently involving these entities, so as to prevent continuity conflict. So the gods are distant, but the 'E'vils forces...

Discussion: Devils and Demons in L4W Cosmology

We have existing forces of evil. The gods. The idea behind the L4W gods is that they are not constrained by alignment, and are both and neither good/evil. Introducing capital 'E' Evil forces, suggests that the gods are good, and they are not. I would hate to see the views of the gods altered...

Lord Ogglebottoms Odd Tasks: All in a Nights Work (DM: DMDanW, Judge: Renau1g)

Thanks for the clarification. Holy crap, everybody ran far in. I'll use a move action to get to C14 without getting near 'stan', then downgrade standard to move to get to G14, and use a minor action for the above narrated Healing Word.

Adventure: The Power of Knowledge (DM: Fragsie, Judge: TwoHeadsBarking)

'Yes, just get him cleaned up, and we'll take them over to the Temple. The priests will be better able to care for them while we look for the others." My apologies. I was not planning to respond, as her comment seemed perfectly reasonable. Either way, please don't hold up the game on my account!

    The Upcoming Adventures thread

If an adventurer earns XP, but does not yet have full approval, does that XP kick-in when he gets approval, or is it just lost?

It does make sense, but it also makes a mess, IMO. The core advantage of having a living world (again, IMO) is that all the adventures take place in a single, cohesive setting. If the 'other planes' are different depending on who your DM is, that takes away from the 'shared experience' quality...

Lord Ogglebottoms Odd Tasks: All in a Nights Work (DM: DMDanW, Judge: Renau1g)

My bad. I had readied an action, without realizing anyone was out of my reach. As such, I figured I couldn't move. However, if I can, I suppose I'll step to A13, B14, and into C14 in order to avoid 'Stan'. That will put me in range of Thorn, but Zharne is well beyond my reach, and will have...

    The Upcoming Adventures thread

It would seem adventures take significantly more time than turnaround spent in the tavern. As such, I have trouble imagining one's characters meeting except in the odd fluke-of-chance situation. If it did, however, I would have the character I more want to see go on the adventure show interest...

    The Upcoming Adventures thread

Seeing 3rd characters are allowed now, I might try a new character. And while I have interest in all of the roles, Ardent is one of my favorite new things, and I seem to be running healers... so I might give it a try if there's still a need by the time I qualify.

Discussion: Devils and Demons in L4W Cosmology

I think we're all looking at the same general ideas and saying much the same things, differently, am I right? We want 'demon' 'devil' 'elemental' and 'angel' to be biological (or metaphysical) designations, not nationalities. Regardless of how these creatures behave, this is the gist of what...

Lord Ogglebottoms Odd Tasks: All in a Nights Work (DM: DMDanW, Judge: Renau1g)

I figured, that's why I altered my definition. Personally, I don't use bloody descriptions in my narration unless I believe the target to be bloodied by or before the attack. But I figure if you're painting with red, Minharath's probably vomiting a little at the back of his throat. Still, he...

Discussion: Devils and Demons in L4W Cosmology

I remind you that the above is in keeping with the 4e cosmology - which we don't use. We have cast out their gods, let us cast out also anything else we don't like, and use what remains as we wish. After All, 'devil' just used to mean 'Baatorian Immortal', right? I, too, prefer planescape to...

Lord Ogglebottoms Odd Tasks: All in a Nights Work (DM: DMDanW, Judge: Renau1g)

Whispering prayers to each of the gods in turn, Minharath observes the battlefield from a place deep within himself. Looking out through eyes barely open, his mind is kneeling, seeking the guidance of his faith. Lauto be patient, Juna be merciful, his thoughts run long-winded as his lips move...

Discussion: Devils and Demons in L4W Cosmology

Looking at the component parts of Asmodeous (D&D-style), we have an evil god of rulership, preparation, and civilization. Sounds like either Lauto or Juna, in their darker aspects. Why not cast the 'adversary' as a religion or temple, rather than a separate entity? Also, the above story...

Discussion: Devils and Demons in L4W Cosmology

I do have one objection to make: The gods of L4W are left ambiguous on purpose, being creatures neither of good nor evil, law nor chaos. Imposing an 'adversary' would cast those gods to one end of the spectrum, even if it's not what was intended. Perhaps instead of a single adversarial...
