    D&D 5E (2014) I'm sure this has been done before....gates/teleports/lots of magic....attracting unwelcome attention...

In the (Fantasy) Hero System there is a Limitation called 'Noisy' which means that anyone within range knows a spell was cast. Or you could create a Limitation: Summons nasty beastie 8- or Summons Very Nasty Beastie 5- The take-away though is that it's important to let players know beforehand...

    D&D 5E (2014) PC Quicklings (another try)

I like Advantage on Initiative. Permanent Uncanny Dodge fits too. -4 STR for starters. Tiny weapons too - small weapons would be two-handed.

D&D 5E (2014) Best Magic Initiate spell for a scout Rogue

With Booming Blade you just get the weapon's normal effects, not SA damage as well, so for the dagger you only get 1d4 + 3. You don't even get the +1d6 poison damage since that's not a normal effect. (And 1d4 + 3 + 1d6 is hugely powerful at level 3.) Until level 5 you're dropping +2d6 SA and...

D&D 5E (2014) Best Magic Initiate spell for a scout Rogue

Rather than Booming Blade, how about taking Vicious Mockery? You already have a weapon damage attack and you should be getting Sneak Attack damage quite often. But Vicious Mockery is Psychic damage.

D&D General How to design fairies without them looking like tiny humans with bug wings?

Simple: make them hybrids. Giants are what you get when you cross a tree with a human. At the other end of the scale atomies are what you get when you cross humans with small flowers like daisies. Fairies are what you get when you cross a butterfly with a human,. so they can range from a...

D&D General need an idea for how to find a "celestial" weapon

Not my cup of tea. Do have that form appear for a moment as the archon enters the weapon, and perhaps on special occasions but keep the everyday form of the weapon. Something else you might like to hold in reserve: perhaps the PCs are fighting valiantly against the demon but are heading for...

    D&D 5E (2014) Defeating intangible creatures w/non-magical weapons

For ghosts, take a gander at the Van Richten's guides. The players have to think and research. For fire elementals, the PCs can just throw water at it.

    D&D 5E (2014) How did tasha/iggwilv bind and control Graz'zt

Read up on the Tales of Wyre. Grazzt gets summoned there, and the Epic spell to do it is detailed.

D&D General I need help again --- character hooks

Mories crafted himself a crystal hypnosis ball. This has come into the hands of the three kids. This is the source of the nightmares. The kids aren't themselves powerful enough to become liches themselves but an elderly relative is, so the plan is to forcibly transform that relative into a lich...

D&D General Warduke. An attempt to provide an historical look at the character in print.

Judging by what you've done here you are going to do well in your studies.

D&D General Warduke. An attempt to provide an historical look at the character in print.

This is not actually a problem: the conflict between Law and Chaos in D&D is as important as the conflict between Good and Evil. I recall an adventure in an early issue of Dungeon (Iron Orb?) that touches on this and you can also see it in the Knight Protectors of the Great Kingdom, where...

D&D General I lack knowledge of LN and CN monsters

All the above can be any alignment. The subordinates of the ruler would tend to be lawful, however. Lawful. Any. Lawful, almost by definition. Any.

Everyone else in the film? Because they all out-acted him.

D&D 5E (2014) Is going from MAD to SAD worth one feat slot?

This is far too powerful, even if restricted to the mental stats. Rather than substituting a stat, how about substituting Proficiency Bonus? I've done this with my revised Fighter class. This actually works out better in the long run, granting +6 instead of +5 but is more moderate at low levels...

    D&D 5E (2014) My homebrewed Warlord version 7! I'm back at it!

And the fighter doesn't get it until very late in Tier 2 to boot. And only 1 / short rest, not the 1 / round the Warlord has.

    D&D 5E (2014) My homebrewed Warlord version 7! I'm back at it!

I disagree. Either you get two attacks or you get one attack and give another character of your choice - who may be a far more important combatant than you - a bonus. Compare it with a spellcaster casting a buffing spell. And it operates at 30' whereas the paladin doesn't get to affect stuff 30'...

    D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: Friar Tuck

Yes, you could give it to him twice, with the second one being for the Bard class, with Vicious Mockery (a stinging rebuke), Blade Ward (divine protection), and Heroism (divine courage).

    D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: Little John

The most minor of nit-picks: the longsword is not really period-accurate; it should be a purely one-handed sword. While longswords did exist at the time, they didn't really come in until the adoption of plate armour. Of course, you could say that he is so large that other people can fit two...
