    D&D 5E (2014) Sea Voyage Advice?

I'm going to give some sound advice that everyone who takes on air, water and space adventures needs to be mindful of.... DON'T FORGET THE THIRD DIMENSION. In that ship/boat/raft the players will think 2D. Point A to Point B. They forget that the majority of water borne adventure lies at...

D&D 5E (2014) Best follow up for Rime of the Frost Maiden?

This is sad. The Against The Giants was one of THE mid-level/high level campaigns back in the day. I hope you find your muse.

D&D General Technology in D&D, the IRL Timeline, and Pausing It.

Something to remember when applying history is look at the why as much as the how or what. So pre- 1st C. CE the Roman Empire had: Running water Mechanical lifts amd elevators Water and steam driven engines (though not used to the extent or purpose of the later Industrial Age) A somewhat...

    D&D 5E (2014) Empowering Races

Yeah, the FF. and the Shrine of Kuo-toa mods really set it off. But evidently it was all (FF and the mods) based on the campaigns ran by Gary when he went to the UK to grow the brand. So UA was just the next step, since that was mostly the Gary trying to increase brand recognition book...

    D&D 5E (2014) Doctors & Daleks - Cubicle 7 Brings Doctor Who to D&D 5E

I doubt a 5.5 or 6e is forthcoming in that form. I would imagine a PHB 2 before that. Expanding rules for higher level, epic level story construction, etc. I could be wrong, bit I don't WotC wants to move away from 5e so much as refocus what they already have. And unlike 3.5, where it was a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Empowering Races

And Drit'zt was unintentionally born... Also the Drow were always intentioned as an adversarial race, by the time 2e came along so many people wanted to play them you just knew they had to be nerfed to fit. As a monstrous race they were great, low hp, high AC with poisons, magic and great...

D&D General worst (real) advice for DMs

@Faolyn and @Scott Christian . Both of you take a moment and re-read your posts objectively. You're on the same side, but you're both 'backing into the same parking spot from opposite sides'. Apply the brakes before the crash. Thanks.- Those of us that on the outside looking in.

    D&D 5E (2014) Empowering Races

I understand what you're saying, and it makes a lot of sense, however the intent was grant races bonuses based on their upbringing. And this is why crunch /> fluff. Fluff text may be useless as far a rules but it sets a tone. A middling DM should be able to use fluff to set a basic mood so...

Max number of days you can provision for?

Correct for 200 and you gain control of the board. Again, it shows that a lot of the hobby evolved from wargamers. If it hadn't have been for Arneson's first dungeon it might have forever been a way to level leaders in wargames.

Would you play in a campaign with racial/class limits of it fits the story?

I will say, I don't play the established settings because they are someone else's game not mine. Not sure if that's a weird misplaced pride, or just a leftover from 1e when it was assumed you'd make your own. Yes, the mods were set in Greyhawk, but were so generic when they were first written...

D&D General On making 5E versions of other games

See I think of playtest and I think of feedback for development. This sounds less like a playtest and more like a starter set or teaser set. @Aramis Erek and I were both part of the Star Trek Adventure RPG playtest. All materials were free and the rules changed...a lot, between those first...
