    5E: Fifth Edition Monster Variants Inspired by Fourth Edition Sources

    I like the idea of using it as a significantly more powerful and more dynamic vampiric mist (so might be used as a boss monster with some CR3 vampiric mist - so maybe CR 6 or so. I will stat up something in an hour or so and post

    5E: Fifth Edition Monster Variants Inspired by Fourth Edition Sources

    Now for my world I need an interesting Vampiric Mist - and I stumbled across the 4e one (p42 of Dungeon #221 in adventure "Vainglorious") and liked its mechanics enough to import it to 5e. I have a vague idea I saw it somewhere else too but can't remember where now. The one from Mordenkainen's...

    Heh, I can DnDbeyond it posthaste...should the 'bite' be slashing or piercing damage? And the claw damage - "6 (1d4 + 3)" --> "5 (1d4 + 3)"?

    D&D 5E (2014) Is the Forgotten Realms experiencing a new Golden Age now that its NOT the default 5e setting anymore?

    Only really familar with 1e,2e and 5e. Seems to me there is more of an unwritten sense of what is "core" material, what is "FR" and what is "Greyhawk" the whole time. The two Campagin settings are so generic that one can shift from non-setting to setting material pretty smoothly. I've never...

    5E: Converting Monsters from White Dwarf Magazine for Fifth Edition

    I suspect the latter - Mike Shea talks about this often (official dnd monsters doing too low damage for their CR) - but clearly some are the other way. Maybe they rushed them...who knows

    5E: Fifth Edition Monsters Inspired by Third Edition Sources

    O this looks good - question is...if Fiendish does it warrant resistance/immunity to poison (leaning yes) and/or fire (mixed feelings as fire is classically what you deal with these things with)

    5E: Fifth Edition Monsters Inspired by Third Edition Sources

    Using its swarm breath while in swarm form strikes me as really weird. Making it a trait gives it more versatility as not an action as such.

    5E: Fifth Edition Monsters Inspired by Third Edition Sources

    My quandary is...is it a bit odd that it can breathe a swarm and then turn into one as well? Maybe the swarm it becomes has the same hp as it (33), rather than 22, and conserves +4 to hit bonus? Agree about it not gaining immunity ti being charmed and frightened in swarmform
