It's really disheartening that over 15 years later and we're still having the same tired arguments about 4E. And that some of it is coming from people who worked at WOTC and should know better.

I've been working on an adapation of Descent into Avernus into my homebrew world that uses a modified Dawn War pantheon and I replaced the Dead Three with a triumvirate of Bane, Torog, and Vecna.

Just do what I and many others did when WOTC disappointed with Spelljammer: release something on DMs Guild and profit off their inadequacy.

I feel like I'm so far out of the loop. I've heard the word 'thug' all my life and it just referred to a big violent criminal irrespective of race. Sure, it could be a street gang member, but it could just as easily be a mafia goon or a neo-nazi brawler.

D&D has had official purple dragons since at least 2E. They breathe plasma (or psychotropic gas in 4E). Also the Purple Dragon Knights don't actually ride purple dragons, but amethyst ones.

If the player doesn't know something about the monster, they can roll a relevant knowledge check. If they do know, it's up to them how they want to play the character's knowledge or ignorance of the topic.

I mean sensing dishonesty and lies of omission can be a valid use of insight. But it's not infallible, nor is it mind reading.

As long as they bring back Jarnathan the Aaracokra to suffer more I will be happy.

Honestly it's not a huge deal for things like the classic demi-human options, since it's easy enough to just change out the token/mini and say this Warrior is a human, this one's an orc, a dwarf, etc. The thing where you lose a lot of flavor is the Duergar, Drow, Lizardfolk,--the non-standard...

Like the other two I may eventually get it for the art if I can find it used, but it's a low priority with all the other RPG stuff I haven't even used. I'm glad the conversion table has been posted, at least, so that I can update my (probably final) DM's Guild adventure with the 2025 equivalents.

I initially took the ???? to be the armorer standing next to his empty armor, but then I noticed that he is holding something like a pendant or pocket watch. Perhaps a clocks/time related subclass.

Does this mean we're getting a 5th subclass?

I... can't say that's something I've ever perceived from the Githyanki or the Githzerai before.
