D&D General What if the Wind Dukes of Aaqa were actually Djinn?

1e DMG is the first mention of the wind dukes of Aaqa the 2e adventure box set has much on them, of course. Now to me, the wind is never a lawful force, but a group could be lawful & bind the wind/power of elemental air. That put aside, I think they did a great job in 2e here:

D&D 5E (2014) Dispel Evil and Good cleric spell 5th level in use

it's unusual in that of course it is to be ignored as idiotic & erroneous. game designers make errors, the DM never ought swallow turds when they know better

D&D 5E (2014) Dispel Evil and Good cleric spell 5th level in use

sounds like fun, plans go awry, we roll the dice because it's a game, not story hour. the dex save was kindness (although maybe the acrobatics dc was a little high and this was a mercy? ) absolutely require a spell attack roll to touch (kind to give adv, but you logic makes full sense to me/i...

D&D General Scarred Lands vs 3e Ravenloft vs Wilderlands of High Fantasy - preference?

I don't have a lot of experience running both in 3e, but I might be helpful anyway. Scarred lands was made for/under e & 3.5e, and the wilderlands go back to the very beginning, to OD&D. That matters in obvious and subtle ways. I'd give that as a point for Scared lands, however, it's all made...

well, I disagree on the last part...too much interconnection is a problem of late. Lots of separate things go on inside a city/county/province/land. "Adventure paths" aren't all that, or rather, they aren't the "true way". "Making up stuff", ie adventures, was half the DM's fun & a major...

Thanks! As for your friend, well, it's a different sort of product, from when the DM was not just to breath life into it, but to build it out. Glad to hear you ran it well/had fun! :D and yeah, that old school art, Bill Willingham high among them for me, just does it. I suppose that dude is...

see above, but cudos on the notion, I'd like to see Phanaton alongside an adventurer or pirate/buccaneer type

Always loved the Phanaton; Isle of Dread was so formative for me & D&D; perfect materials, time & age with me While it's easy indeed to shift several AD&D adventures there (or shift the isle from B/X), such as Dwellers of the Forbidden City, Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan & several others, making...

damn, toaster that just makes me sad, the ranger stuff...I cannot imagine no play outside dungeons, outside TSR modules (which I/we found to be almost entirely useless...all made for groups larger than we wanted to play...not that we didn't have enough players, but the game was no fun with that...
