Supposedly ALL the changes listed here. EDIT: not quite all. Info on a lot of spells still missing.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Reviews

Treantmonk reports that gobs of more technical stuff is gone from the new PHB, either because it's been moved to the DMG or is gone completely. Rules for encumberance are gone, except for a blurb that your DM might limit what you can carry. Rules for squeezing, forced march, and ability contests...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Reviews

Wargamer.com has their review up here. They give it 9 of 10 and say "bigger and more beginner-friendly than ever before."

D&D 5E (2024) 2025's Ancient Green Dragon Stat Block From The New Monster Manual

I really like the way reactions have specific triggers. I constantly forget to have boss monsters do their cool things when it isn't their turn. This new format is much better for my peanut-sized brain.

D&D 5E (2024) 2025's Ancient Green Dragon Stat Block From The New Monster Manual

Since the word "bloodied" supposedly re-appears in this edition, I had high hopes that we'd see the feature return that breath weapons recharge when the dragon becomes bloodied. That was one of the simplest but coolest rules in 4e and I wanted to see it back. Too bad. Easy enough to house rule...

Plenty Of Time To Die: A Shadowdark Review

On the Shadowdark discord, there's been an Arden Vul game running for ages. I believe I've seen Barrowmaze as well. So that seems to be a popular idea.

Sell Me on Dungeon Crawl Classics For Long term Play, and NO Funnels

In my edition of the DCC rulebook, it says on page 359 that you reward 1 XP for "The typical easy encounter" and you reward 4 XP for "An extremely difficult encounter, one that the party barely survives." That's pretty much exactly what I said. That's the GM-facing explanation of XP. The...

Sell Me on Dungeon Crawl Classics For Long term Play, and NO Funnels

What makes you think DCC is a one-shot based system? It explicitly isn't! If it weren't meant to be played in a campaign, the fact that thieves regenerate luck between adventures wouldn't be any kind of an advantage at all. That's actually intended to be one of the strongest features of the...

Sell Me on Dungeon Crawl Classics For Long term Play, and NO Funnels

Seconded. I recommend that book even to 5e Dungeon Masters, even though it's theoretically "not compatible" with 5e, because it's such a treasure trove of ideas. It makes even the most vanilla monsters memorable. It might be my favorite D&D book ever written.

Sell Me on Dungeon Crawl Classics For Long term Play, and NO Funnels

Man, the way you describe this makes it sound my favorite RPG mechanic ever. The DCC rulebook makes it seem a lot less interesting: 1 XP for an easy fight, 4 for an extremely deadly one. Which is fine, but I greatly prefer your interpretation of "how awesome was it?". Thief simply rolls to...

D&D General Did you know EverQuest had promo D20s for their 3rd ed D&D TT game?

Sell Me on Dungeon Crawl Classics For Long term Play, and NO Funnels

I'm with you about funnels. I think they're a cool and interesting idea, but I hate that DCC has been reduced to "the funnel RPG" in people's minds. That's so unfair and inaccurate. I'm not sure I've played enough DCC to answer this question well, but I'll try. One cool thing about DCC is that...

    D&D 5E (2014) Missing APs To Aquire?

Tomb of Annihilation was by far my favorite. The hexcrawl part was hit or miss, but some of the locations/encounters were very good. And the mega-dungeon at the end was A++, especially for those of us who remember Tomb of Horrors fondly. It channeled everything unsettling and deadly about that...

Maybe they're saving that for the Forest Oracle dice set.

D&D General Classic Adventure Themed Dice Sets From Beadle & Grimm's

These aren't even resin, sharp-edged dice. That price for ordinary tumbled plastic dice is silly. Too bad, because a couple of these I would have liked a lot.

Dungeons of Drakkenheim - 3rd Party Review

I am running Drakkenheim right now. So far it's been excellent, although I find it to be a very challenging adventure to DM. It's incredibly complex and information in the book is not well organized, which is a brutal combination. Still, it's been everything I hoped so far in terms of color...

RPG Print News – Cubicle 7, Free League, and More

Wow, that is good stuff! I don't play Soulbound (I hadn't even heard of it until now) but that's amazing and I might have to check this book out. The only thing more gruesome and horrifying is the thought of listening to music on cassette again.

D&D Historian Benn Riggs On Gary Gygax & Sexism

Yep, I'm sure Ben is installing his second swimming pool right now. Everyone knows the path to quick riches is to point out sexism in a Twitter thread. I would do it myself, but I'm scared I might be crushed by the weight of all that cash. Also, the "only wants to cause trouble" argument is no...
