Man, this was my first console as a kid and I remember digging it because it was compatible with 2600 games. Of which, I inherited a big box from my older cousins. But yeah, 7800 games at $30 is a tough sell.
I imagine the pitch is "Shadowrun" but with not terrible rules, but that's been the pitch for a bunch of games that have appeared and disappeared just as quickly. I really wish that wasn't the case, but alas.
Cool. If you go in eyes open, it's your call. Caveat emptor applies to all transactions, this is no different. I'm not really going to engage more than that because, apparently, discussing the business practices of a business launching a new business venture at an event where they describe how...
I'm honestly surprised 7th Sea second edition is getting anything beyond the Kickstarter obligations. I was sure Chaosium would want to move on from it when they could. I'm happy for the people who like it, they'll at least get one campaign out of the deal.
I'm sorry, what?
If there hadn't been massive pushback they would have let the status quo remain where everybody would have to spend god knows how long making all the spells, items etc homebrew one by one if they wanted to keep playing 2014.
This would have been a real pain and obviously...
It's the same reason why movie studios weren't allowed to own movie theaters for decades or why cable companies weren't allowed to own content creating entities.
That isn't the case anymore, and in both cases, it's safe to say it hasn't exactly been all roses.
It's not about jealousy or anything of the sort. What do you think the chances of you still "owning" these ten years down the line?
"New edition new mini dimensions, they will not carry over"
Or
"Sigil 2 is built on a new engine that is not compatible with the previous engine you'll have to...
Tomato, tomatoe I suppose. Our experiences differ I guess. Or, at least, how we perceive D&D 2024 in relation to old school Greyhawk. I'm glad that your experience hasn't been that, though. Must be nice.
I plan to, doesn't mean I can't snark about this one though, does it?
What's the over/under on Wizards' stepping on their own feet with this new VTT? For historical basis of this conjecture please see gestures vaguely at the last two years
Yeah, putting "new" design choices aside, on a thematic basis, I'm interested to see how a party of furry avatars with no human in sight where everyone is an un-killable god at first level marries with Greyhawk.
Hint: I don't think it will.
Hello fellow D&D enthusiasts, I the director of digital monetization, am here to assure you that these miniatures are just like real miniatures except we can and will revoke access to them at a time and place of our choosing. Please line up for your slop. Thank you.
This pretty much explains why the Goodman Games OAR series stepped away from classic first-party TSR modules. Wizards' wanted its juice back for another squeeze. I suspected as much.
I don't understand buying something and then changing all the things that made it unique from the other fantasy RPGs out there. It's not like Tunnels & Trolls has huge widespread name recognition.
