Dungeons & Dragons Comments On Possibility of Future Movie Projects

Considering Hasbro is decreasing their toy production (outsourcing a fair amount of what they used to make themselves to others) and wanting to transition to being an "IP company" you kind of have to make more D&D shows and movies. So not really surprising. When these also inevitably fail, it...

Dragonlance "You walk down the road, party is now level 2."

Well, that didn't end up so well for me right after leaving the vault in Fallout 1, but I get your meaning. I'm also an exceptionally unskilled individual.

OSR OSR game with more dangerous magic

Both are really good for classic sword and sorcery they do a good job of replicating Vance and Leiber respectively. If you like DCC and like either of those authors it's pretty much a no brainer purchase.

ENnies To Ban Generative AI From 2025

I've fully embraced Nihilism so I prefer the doom that takes the most oligarchs with me.

The D&D 4th edition Rennaissaince: A look into the history of the edition, its flaws and its merits

Yeah can't stand Reynold's dungeon punk thing. Which is too bad, back in the day he drew a 40K comic that was pretty cool. Unrelated 5E art thing I can't stand. Nobody is ever looking at each other. Seriously. Go look at Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft and explain those sight lines to me.

ENnies To Ban Generative AI From 2025

But the new Chinese AI just made all the other AI companies lose a ton of value and now they're saying a bunch of venture capital firms might be in trouble. WHO ARE WE TO ROOT FOR

The D&D 4th edition Rennaissaince: A look into the history of the edition, its flaws and its merits

I think the 4E art direction was all pouches and no soul. I will expect your formal invitation to a duel at sundown promptly. I am laundering my finest cravat in anticipation.

D&D General Ray Winninger on 5e’s success, product cadence, the OGL, and more.

What classes would be left? In 5E pretty much every class uses magic. There's only a few subclasses that don't at all. Plus, like, the idea of a modern D&D party (An Aasimar, 2 Tabaxi, gem Dragonborn and Larry's Tortle/Sonic OC) is absolutely hilarious in a "horror" game. That's not a critique...

And a particular fantasy adventure game, that is magic heavy power fantasy. Like, good luck trying to make a low magic setting work with like, 90% + of the classes as they are constructed. OG Ravenloft understood this. It's not scary when the game is literally about killing monsters and taking...

D&D General Ray Winninger on 5e’s success, product cadence, the OGL, and more.

Genuine question: What was changed because of playtest feedback? I wasn't following it super closely but it seemed to me the consensus was that the playtest was pretty much pointless because nothjng changed?

Well, from the perspective of every MBA at Hasbro who ruins everything for a living, all designs are improved by this.

The D&D 4th edition Rennaissaince: A look into the history of the edition, its flaws and its merits

We get it, you're bitter. That much is evident. Though, was this a + thread about 4E? Did I miss something? Pretty sure the original post was about an article discussing the development, release and reception of 4E and spun out from there. This isn't a thread about a 4E homebrew or whatever...

How about we split the difference and call it Steve? How about we grab a Costco size bag of pizza rolls and play Steve all weekend, like the old days, guys?

How have we been having discussions about 5E2024 without coming up with a better name we all agree on? I respectfully submit Fifther Edition and 5 Fast 5 Furious.

The D&D 4th edition Rennaissaince: A look into the history of the edition, its flaws and its merits

I mean, that's not really a PF1 product though, is it? But yes, I do remember when Starfinder was being previewed at Origins and they were really pushing the idea that it wasn't just Pathfinder in space. So I'm assuming they did all that intentionally.

The D&D 4th edition Rennaissaince: A look into the history of the edition, its flaws and its merits

I mean, sure, I didn't even mention third party OGL material (which isn't going to stop either) being another factor. But, what 300 page hardcover would you like to have seen out of Paizo before they moved on?
