A few concerns with The Power Gamer's 3.5 Warrior Strategy Guide

FYI, only one of the authors worked for BIS (no, not me, it's JE Sawyer). He only did the sections on feats and skills, and some of his work was significantly revised after his turnover. I just want to make sure that the above-posted concerns about the book don't stick to him.... :)

Serpent Kingdoms Art Gallery Is Up

Like here, maybe? http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/frx/20030528a (The saurials didn't end up in Races of Faerun, either, so we got permission to reprint the Dragon article I did as a WotC website tie-in to RoF.)

    An Eberron Review by SKR

There was a section in the 1E PH or DMG where he discusses that choice. For a time they considered alternate names, such as power, order, rank, and level for spells, monsters, characters, and dungeons (I believe that's the breakdown).

    An Eberron Review by SKR

::shrug:: I admitted the domains were news to me. If I got the original sources wrong, does that really invalidate the review? Would you be so critical if I had just said, "It has these domains, I don't know which ones are new or not?" I'm reviewing _Eberron_, not writing an encyclopedia entry...

    An Eberron Review by SKR

And you're being rude. {He obviously hasn't read a d20 book since FRCS...} Not true ... I just haven't used most of the post-PH/DMG/MM books as a reference for anything I've written or in a campaign. {Artifice appeared in Deities and Demigods.} A book which I skimmed when it came out and...

    Gygax's views on OGL

OK, for R&D: 30 designers, editors, and creative directors, plus one manager for all of R&D Support staff (some of the workloads here are just estimates) 1 admin 2-3 typesetters 2 art directors, each working about 50% on RPGs and 50% other 2 graphic designers 2-3 sales/marketing types I think...

    Gygax's views on OGL

Well, I wasn't dodging your question, it just isn't relevant to the costs. But I will answer it, given you clarify: do you mean now, or when I left WotC in 2002? Do you mean just the R&D staff, or do you mean the typesetters, graphic designers, and marketing and sales people who exclusively work...

Eberron—first look convinced me to buy

I only have a pre-release playtest copy (bound a la Kinko's, B&W) but so far I have read through the first three chapters and I'm quite impressed. Expect a formal review when I'm done (probably next week).

Unfortunately, your point isn't really relevant. When the bean-counters look at the profitability of each part of the business, they look at how much money each part is making, not how much money each part is making per employee employed in that division. They just say (and note those numbers...

    Gygax's views on OGL

Up to this point, your timeline is pretty much dead-on. However, WotC bought TSR in 1997, Pokemon became a hit in 1998 (i.e., after the TSR buyout). I don't know if this is true, but it certainly is reasonable interpretation of stockholder opinions. Essentially. Peter was promoted to a...

False. The trademark was on a piece of artwork on a chit/token in the Indiana Jones game, it stated that it was a trademark of Lucasfilm (which owns IJ),it was put there at Lucasfilm's insistance, and only referred to that specific piece of artwork as a representation of a Nazi (Disney can...

    Gygax's views on OGL

Sorry to reply to something now several days old, but.... WotC is at least ten times bigger than Necromancer, Goodman Games, or probably even White Wolf. Not in terms of sales (I don't know what the multiplier is in a sales comparison between WotC and WW, but I'm guessing it's at least x2), but...

    Angels, Seraphim, Aasimars

For my own reference and for writing Anger of Angels, I went to the bookstore and picked up an art book of angels (I think it was called Angels in Artwork) ... plenty of great references, especially in the Resaissance period. Edit: No, I don't have any links handy, but just doing a Google...

    "Hungry Little Monsters"

When I have an exact page count I'll be able to figure out the price based on similar-size books. I might also put the book on a small discount for the first week. BTW, I'm putting together a mailing list so I can notify people when the book is available. Details for that have been added to the...

    "Hungry Little Monsters"

I'm pretty much done ... concept submissions were due 4/30. But thank you for asking. (I had originally planned to make an open call for submissions once I heard back from the writers I initially solicited, but the response was so great that I'm able to fill 50 pages with the expected...

I submitted a scoop to ENworld about this last night but it apparently didn't get in until after the mods were processing items for today's main page.

    Swords Into Plowshares

No by now you've heard about Swords Into Plowshares being available for free. In its for-sale lifetime it sold around 400 copies. Sunday night I put it online for free. I just got the download stats for the site, and on Monday it was downloaded 2,400 times. Imagine if more of those people had...

Do you think Eberron will go the way of Ghostwalk?

Ghostwalk was conceived of by Monte and I in 2001, before he left to start Malhavoc Press ... we were tasked with thinking up a one-shot campaign option book. That summer I wrote it while an employee and he as a freelancer. It was orginally scheduled for release in 2002. It was delayed and then...
