Colin McComb's disowning of PHBR8 The Complete Book of Elves?

Colin didn't disown the CBoE, he apologized for it. It was his first design project.

    Silven Crossroads/Harry Potter RPG speculation

That Pokemon RPG (the Pokemon adventure game) sold well over a hundred thousand units, and probably much more than that. I remember Ryan Dancey saying something about how well it sold.

    Silven Crossroads/Harry Potter RPG speculation

I remember it more as, "I don't want anyone else other than me putting words into my characters' mouths or making my characters do things." And that included kids pretending to be Harry, Hermione, etc. playing the official HP RPG. Strange.

    Silven Crossroads/Harry Potter RPG speculation

Be sure you check out Bradford Ferguson's speculations about a Harry Potter RPG: http://www.silven.com/adnd.asp?case=show&id=211 Now that you're back from reading that.... Brad - Excellent reasoning. I'll point out that WotC _did_ have rights to the HP property (they made a trading card set...

ATTN Piazo: Dungeon mag and Dragon mag CD-roms & the Tasini v NY Times decision

I'm not sure what you mean by "this applies to." If you're asking if I think those people do not have justifiable value in their old material, no; there is value in it. However, even for those people the CD-ROM isn't going to destract from sales of their story collections or art collections...

ATTN Piazo: Dungeon mag and Dragon mag CD-roms & the Tasini v NY Times decision

I don't think it's right for the company to barrel on through if it's inconvenient to check up on contract rights. And I think it's OK for an author or artist to assert his rights to his work. However, I don't think the contract rights apply in the case of CD-ROM compilations. There are two...

ATTN Piazo: Dungeon mag and Dragon mag CD-roms & the Tasini v NY Times decision

True, we've never met and we've never discussed this. I just frown upon KenzerCo's legal strongarming to get the D&D license for nothing. There is another issue related to that, but I'm not inclined to bring it up in a public forum.

ATTN Piazo: Dungeon mag and Dragon mag CD-roms & the Tasini v NY Times decision

I was having internet problems two days ago, so this message I composed couldn't be posted. It repeats some of what some other people have said, but I thought it had some additional info that y'all might find interesting or relevant, so here it is. Perhaps the buyer is looking at it as a...

ATTN Piazo: Dungeon mag and Dragon mag CD-roms & the Tasini v NY Times decision

I'll just put back in the part of your post that you edited out (above) .... Interesting that you expect us to believe your statements in the very same post where you admit your bias. {The quote atrributed to Dave is correct. There was no lawsuit. (i.e. nothing ever went to court).} Correct...

    gensai article in dragon magazine

If he's asking about issue #293, it's definitely the planetouched excerpt from Races of Faerun. :)

    gensai article in dragon magazine

What you're remembering is actually a preview of Races of Faerun, a Forgotten Realms product (though the article wasn't described as a preview at the time). If you pick up Races of Faerun (which came out last year) you'll have everything that appeared in that article, and then some.

ATTN Piazo: Dungeon mag and Dragon mag CD-roms & the Tasini v NY Times decision

But many of the most vocal freelance authors against the Dragon CD-ROM claim that those 5-year-old stories and articles are extremely valuable, and publishing the CD-ROM would be ruining their ability to make zillions of dollars from that gold mine of OOP material. I happen to disagree with...

    DM to DM...Spellfire?

A spellcasting character with spellfire cannot use his own spellcasting ability to charge up his spellfire. Why? Because to absorb with spellfire you have to ready an action, and if you're readying an action you're obviously not casting a spell at the same time. No, quicken and haste don't help...

Path magic versus being a general wizard

Well, that sounds different than what the first poster was describing. Has this evolved since you introduced to him? As long as the path wizard can gain sufficient spells at each spell level to let them remain versatile (for versatility is the gift of the wizard, as compared to the sorcerer)...

Path magic versus being a general wizard

Hello. First of all, my path magic stuff he's referring to can be found here: http://www.seankreynolds.com/rpgfiles/misc/pathmagic.html Second, my path magic was never intended to be a limit to what you could not select as a sorcerer or wizard ... it was intended to reward people who chose...

What did you do during TSR's dark days of '97

Yep, that's the timeframe. You neglected to mention the infamous statement on the main page for the first 4 months of that year: "Due to a problem with the printers, we have been unable to release any new products or magazines since December...." The "problem" of course being that TSR was...
