Systems You Left after One Bad Experience

Good to know. If the opportunity presents itself, I'll probably try it. I still might not be into it since I like more Science in my science fiction, but that isn't a deal-breaker.

Systems You Left after One Bad Experience

    > Systems You Left after One Bad Experience D&D 4e, Savage Worlds, Deadlands and Exhaulted -- I knew I would never run those games after I played them. In each case I played them for an entire campaign, not just one session. While the adventures were cool, I didn't care for the systems...

Systems You Left after One Bad Experience

I've played that one several times back in the 1980's. I recall having had a good time, but that could have been the DM despite the system. Today, I couldn't tell you anything about the system. It wouldn't surprise me if it were a complex system.

Paizo To Make Kingmaker Bestiary... For D&D 5E!

Yeh, right on. A "dead" system can be convenient for a DM. You won't find players clamoring to use the "latest thing." I would add that sometimes even a "dead" setting can be convenient too. You won't wake up to find that somebody has decided that Tieflings (Forgotten Realms) and Goblins...

Paizo To Make Kingmaker Bestiary... For D&D 5E!

Perhaps. But I think it is more the notion that "business is war" and this is the discussion of the spectators and fans. That isn't unique to the USA. I want to say it is probably shared with parts of Asia, but that's not my field of study and I could be... well am... usually full of it.

Paizo To Make Kingmaker Bestiary... For D&D 5E!

I'm not saying you're wrong, but on a personal level, the PF2 Playtest stripped away any brand loyalty I had for Pathfinder. It also got several of my friends to start looking at 5e. To one of them, an official and supported pairing of 5e and Golarion would be ideal. It will be interesting to...

Has Paizo ever talked about releasing their adventures in 5E format?

A 5e Kingmaker Bestiary looks like a good and safe move. They outsourced it, right? I think the Kingmaker AP is the strongest one Paizo ever released and its a good fit for many settings, not just Golarion. It would be a good 5e crossover if they wanted to go further.

    Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2E or Pathfinder 1E?

The Kingdom system got revised in Ultimate Campaign. I still use it (with modification) in parts of a PF1 game. The devil is in the details, but if I remember it correctly much of it should still be useful. You would have to switch it to use silver instead of gold, but that's easy. The skill...

Have you ever written a standalone set of RPG rules?

Back in the 80s my high school friends and I were inspired by the Escape from New York movie. I whipped up a game system and we played it for months. I wish I still had it, but haven't seen those sheets of paper in decades. In the 90s I took up a club challenge to make an RPG for Blood Bowl...

Pathfinder 2E What Would You Want from PF2?

This gap between the playtest and launch is rather awkward. My understanding is that y'all don't want to talk details about the changes. I'd be curious to know what changes make the final version smooth, if there's anything that can be shown.

Has Paizo ever talked about releasing their adventures in 5E format?

I've found the Pathfinder Kingmaker video game to be playable and enjoyable, but I've been willing to save scum. I had a friend start the game with the initial release and he found it painful with all of the bugs. I started around 6 weeks ago and it has been smooth enough. You will stumble into...

Pathfinder 2E What Would You Want from PF2?

They did remove resonance late in the Playtest. Our local playtest experience was that it wasn't really limiting anything anyways. Nobody ever ran out of Resonance. After a few sessions we concluded it was pointless bureaucracy and just ignored it. You must have a magic weapon and magic armor...

Pathfinder 2E What Would You Want from PF2?

Game 1 has many casual players who struggle with both the PF1 and PF2 (playtest) rules. This game needs a simpler system. This is a multi-DM game. I have run and played in this game. With PF2, I'll drop back to just playing. Game 2 has all veteran players. It has a long history, lots of...

Has Paizo ever talked about releasing their adventures in 5E format?

That's an angle that I had not considered. One Paizo advantage I could see is that some people are already familiar with Golarion, but I don't know that the draw is the setting as much as it is the APs. It's pretty easy to change the setting of an adventure. It's much more work to convert the...

Has Paizo ever talked about releasing their adventures in 5E format?

I was speaking of the two games. That is, of what I can observe. There's no way I could know world-wide. I think I've been clear to acknowledge that Paizo is bound to be working with better information.

Has Paizo ever talked about releasing their adventures in 5E format?

No doubt. They've got every right to play the game of life as they see it and Well there's "backlash", I'll say consequences, for every change. I'm looking at a 50% conversion rate to PF2 with my local, tiny, sample of games. Game 1 involves around 8 players, of which 3 buy PF1 rules and 1...

    Hello Pathfinder fans.

For Pathfinder 1, my preference has been Hero Lab, but that is a really expensive buy-in if you want everything. When Pathfinder 2 comes out perhaps the PF1 version will go on a heavy discount. For Pathfinder 2 (Playtest), I've been using Hero Lab Online and I'm not particularly satisfied with...

    Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2E or Pathfinder 1E?

I can agree with that. The tone of the boards changed noticeably during the Playtest. A lot of the voices advocating for alternatives left. Much of the dissent focused on retaining more of PF1, but... and this is just my opinion... there were folks advocating for changes that remind me of 5E. I...

    Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2E or Pathfinder 1E?

I dunno. I frequented the Paizo boards and participated in the playtest. A number of us were calling for changes that I think would make PF2 more like 5E. The various discussions of changing +1 per level to something smaller (like +1/2 per level) was expressing a desire for something like...

Has Paizo ever talked about releasing their adventures in 5E format?

Agreed, and I certainly respect yours and others opinions on the matter. I admit Paizo has the best information and that I'm only an armchair quarterback. I also admit that my opinion is colored by my desires and other opinions of PF1 and PF2. Paizo and I clearly see their value to be in...
