    So how do we respond?

Friends, nerds, ENWorlders, lend me your ears; I come to bury WotC, not to praise them. The evil that men do lives after them; The good is oft interred with their bones; So let it be with WotC. - so sayeth Olgar So while it's pretty clear that what's going on with WotC and the OGL is somewhat...

Ryan Dancey -- Hasbro Cannot Deauthorize OGL

Welcome back! You're our hero and thanks for everything you've done to create a massive, cooperative gaming industry! If WotC its becoming a new evil empire that is trying to corrupt what you built, I'll keep a virtual torch and pitchfork at the ready. All you have to do is call.

A Ruins Of The Lost Realm Review

Beautiful book and I really enjoyed the expansion of Arnor and Eregion -- though in many ways I'd like to turn back the clock to earlier in the third age for the war with Angmar and the ultimate destruction of Arnor's successor kingdoms.

WotC Announces OGL 1.1 -- Revised Terms, Royalties, and Annual Revenue Reporting

    (1) Because WotC appears to be trying to build a walled garden around something designed not to be walled in, and doesn't appear to be offering value in return for it. (2) Because Dancey's genius was ensuring what he released as Open couldn't really be taken away despite WotC shenanigans...

WotC Announces OGL 1.1 -- Revised Terms, Royalties, and Annual Revenue Reporting

This is all a bit much to digest, but I've come to two conclusions: 1. I have no interest in adopting D&D 5.5 now. 2. We all owe a huge debt to Ryan Dancey for the way the original OGL is constructed.

Re-reading the Hobbit, it almost feels like a distinct setting from LotR's Middle-Earth

I find the most disturbing element of the Serkis LotR audiobook is when he sings every line of Tom Bombadil's dialog. Every. Line.

Eisenhorn? I'm down for Eisenhorn. Or something Rogue Trader-ish. If this just tries to glorify Space Marines to sell plastic I'm out.

How's it going? Just checking in!

I know the feeling. I've drifted from RPG playing (still pick up books too read) just due to time. Doing more tabletop wargaming & mini painting, so I guess I've drifted to D&D's roots ... lends itself better to episodic availability.

D&D 5E (2024) What new jargon do you want to replace "Race"?

I favor "People" (as in : "The Free Peoples of Central Earth"). But not on the poll, so would take Ancestry or Heritage. Or, you know, Elf, Dwarf, and Halfling classes. Though you have to rename the last two since they define themselves in relation to humans, which is specist.
