I don't know. It sounds (to me) like they are still feeling out what they can change and what they can't. I just hope to god warlock gets pact magic back

D&D 5E (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

yes to be honest almost every caster (sorcerer being odd girl out) gets at least 1 if not multi builds to make melee a good option for them.

Imagine you went to a con game, and you sat down with 5 others (4 players and a DM) and you got given 5 pregens and you got the 9th level fighter 1st level rogue. You have expertise and training in persuasion and intimidation and a bunch of other cool skills. You get 2 attacks and action surge...

it's all very wibbly wobbly. It may just not be set in stone one way or the other.

I hear a lot about these theoretical players but only meet ones that either improvise and do 'cool things' with most of there characters or ones that don't. I have never seen someone go from champion to battlemaster (or rune knight to bladesinger) and get less creative. I am not saying you...

yeah, why does the fighter have to improvise instead of having something as cool as wall of force? spells are too valuable is the problem not the solution. right it's a team game and as part of that is the game was made (way back before I was born) to be a warrior a skill guy and two casters...

of those only weapon mastery was a big improvement in my mind so yeah I get what you mean. edit: it actually makes the whole playtest into a joke if they pull the rug and say "Nope just 5e reprinted"

D&D 5E (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

yeah the caster has MORE room, they have spell options to use to improvise the martials never will play a hexblade warlock or a armor artificer and you will watch them go for grapple if they want. wait it's a waste for a caster to grapple but a good option for a fighter?!?! you just proved my...

maybe, but we only have the examples so far to work with for our theory on what it will look like for people who like and want 5e to continue that is a good sign

so 3.5 needed to be changed from 3e when about 50 options books came out, and 5e needs to be changed to (insert what ever you want to call it) after 40 options books

D&D 5E (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

every character can improvise. However casters have more base options to base that importation on. a fighter has 6 stats, 4 skills 2 tool prof and a good attack bonus and good hp along with action surge to impovise with at 3rd or 9th level a wizard has 6 stats 4 skills 2 tool prof an okay...

D&D 5E (2024) Jeremy Crawford discusses what are the 2024 Fitfh Edition Core Rulebooks.

because 3.5 caused a split and they don't understand that the split was different rules not a different name. if they put out a 6e PHB with warrior mage scoundrel and priest in it that used the base idea of 5e but had the new classes, it would cause no more or less a split then the 2014/2024...

D&D 5E (2024) Jeremy Crawford discusses what are the 2024 Fitfh Edition Core Rulebooks.

agreed. if the new druid is better balanced but we still have the option of the old druid that is not any different then putting out a shaman class and saying "that fixes the druid" ALso as I pointed out in the spell thread, any class change will be only the new one supported. So going forward...

D&D 5E (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

I think a blade singer is close enough to a fighter for levels 1-10 but also a full caster (see also sword or valor bard and warcleric and hexblade) and this is a problem. by level 11 the fighter pulls ahead with that 3rd attack, but that 3rd attack is NEVER worth a 6th+ level spell. I had a...

Didn't someone start suggesting breaking the fighter up into multi classes for this reason?

I didn't watch stargate when it was new (I may not even have been born when movie came out let me check...94, so nope) but I have friends that kept telling me about it and I started watching SG1 then Atlantis (now I am trying to get into universe). There are super human warriors (like stronger...

batman spent years as 'just a warrior' until he started talking about pressure points now it isn't a go to every time thing but a common thing for him to hit pressure points. it went from something he could not do to something he can.

Sailor Moon, Yugioh and Pokemon were my gateway drug to one piece and Kakegurui (most of those can be called urban fantasy) from there I went into weird nsfw stuff and from there I went into most of what you labeled (still have not watched my hero yet but it's on my list) however along the way...
