D&D 5E (2024) Jeremy Crawford: “We are releasing new editions of the books”

that thread you created is full of people like me that it would work better for... why is anyone bringing up an issue on a board about a playtest ASKING about issues a "Wizards detractor"

how is me responding to someone talking about IT forceing and IT model? did you see the context of my post? It was me saying that I DON'T know IT, even though I was responding to someone that does, and giveing a NON IT example.

D&D 5E (2024) What would change for you if Wizards started calling it 6E?

okay I'll bite, what do YOU think makes them put out new versions of the PHB DMG and MM? (and remember there have been more then 1 version so try to keep it to matching at least a few of them)

D&D 5E (2024) What would change for you if Wizards started calling it 6E?

lack of interest... the same thing that happens after every edition peters out. what stopped 2e, 3e,3.5, 4e and now the 2014 version of 5e from being as profitable?

except if they are losing money it would make more sense to scrap and start over.

D&D 5E (2024) What would change for you if Wizards started calling it 6E?

Yeah I have had enough bad experiences with guys (always guys who identify as guys) trying to sexualize the game against other's will. I can't imagine how worse that would be in VR. and note I said against others will, I have 0 issue with us handling mature content like sex and sexuality...

    D&D 5E (2024) Survey Launch | Player's Handbook Playtest 5 | Unearthed Arcana | D&D

what happened to the idea of modular rules from the last playtest? we could have a 4e set of options, an over the top anime set of options... maybe each as a book or maybe 1 book with several sets of rule add ons.

    D&D 5E (2024) Survey Launch | Player's Handbook Playtest 5 | Unearthed Arcana | D&D

this was one of the longest running arguments at my table. 2 players/DMs think that the lack of DC or examples means you can't really make a check, and 1 player/DM thinks it is just using the easy/hard DCs everytime someone wanted to jump at all the 'discussion' broke out. I personally am a...

D&D 5E (2024) What would change for you if Wizards started calling it 6E?

my buddy who works in government always says a quote from some movie "Everytime people tell me we are becoming a paperless society I get 2 new forms to fill out, sometimes in triplicate." the books may be PDFs but they are still books. I think we are still a long way off just streaming info.

D&D 5E (2024) What would change for you if Wizards started calling it 6E?

maybe... or maybe 3 years if the 2024 books don't keep selling. No way to know.

end of editions is a talking point, but when they need a boost they will take it

D&D 5E (2024) Jeremy Crawford: “We are releasing new editions of the books”

yeah... that sounds about right. the 2024 books will be backwards compatible with the 2014 ones... except with some spells some conditions, most feats, most classes/subclasses, backgrounds and race (that wont be called that or look like that at all)

D&D 5E (2024) Jeremy Crawford: “We are releasing new editions of the books”

exactly people are arguing against a .5 like it's the only choice. As long as they have a clear break I don't care what they call it, but they need a way to say "this book uses these rules not those rules"

D&D 5E (2024) Jeremy Crawford: “We are releasing new editions of the books”

imagine if the new Nintendo system was advertised for a year as 'backwards compatible with n64" then you were told "Just go get a cd tray and make these minor adjustments to connect it and it will kinda work" or worse "It plays those games just not on the orginal discs"

that's okay the train will be here someday... when this edition has sales fumble someone will pitch 6e

I think the idea of CR sounds great, but in pratice I think there has to be more 'give' to the system.

D&D 5E (2024) What would change for you if Wizards started calling it 6E?

the thing is it doesn't need to be 'corrected' as much as a ground floor redo. Something that is well outside the scope paying lip service to back compatibility.
