D&D 5E (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

that is also why many people (no matter how many times you tell me I am alone or other people don't count) wont play non casters unless the game is geared toward non casters from session 0/ complare it to thorn whip

D&D 5E (2024) Do you see Fighter players at your own table?

translation 32% of enworlders said something I don't like in a survey with no rules and no purpose, so I will pretend it is harmful to admit that a subset of players of this game about elves exists. look this whole thing is a poke at me and another poster. It HAS NO PURPOSE. However all...

she isn't a normal human, she is a super hero (or villian) her training isn't 'just normal training' she is his equal not cause a magic spider bit him and connected him to the web of life and fate, but beacuse she is just that darn good. I would point out the 100 times that spider sense failed...

as long as it is up to the DM not the rules the issue is it will be diffrent table to table, while a refluff thorn whip and spider climb and hold person will always work the same

D&D 5E (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

Okay lets play what if... I sit down to a 20th level game with a 5th level monk, 2nd level fighter 13th level rogue, I fight with a whip that I get to use as a monk weapon, and claws on my gloves. the woman next to me makes a warlock hexblade 17 divine soul sorcerer 3 (she also took the feat...

I am bias, like I said Selena is my girl, but yeah, I would expect in any cross over for Catwoman to be the equal to spiderman

I don't know if I need swing from whip per say, but something like it would be nice. Imagine a kuni on a chain could do that too. A belmount trick a catwoman trick a scorpion trick. "Get over here"

D&D 5E (2024) Do you see Fighter players at your own table?

I feel this entire thread is a JAB at the discussion started because I said when we as a group and a team put together our PCs having a melee tough full caster is better then a melee tough noncaster. HOWEVER as @doctorbadwolf pointed out, no matter what number of people on here say they agree...

I will be honest and not have a lot of connan examples... John Mclean shot down a helicopter with a car, survived being shot, blown up and still ran around perfectly fine, and often pulled tricks that no D&D fighter could. Catwoman is my girl... read Hush she can survive a fight with mind...

not really, I have 4 fighters I have made in the last year. I have played 0 of them. I love fighters, I WANT to play fighters, I just need a campaign where no one is going to be a baldesinger or hexblade or warcleric and where the DM will give me the abality to do cool things with stat/skill checks

I know, and I wonder if they are so threatened by the idea of a mythic fighter, then why?

D&D 5E (2014) What houserules do we assume is common in the community?

I often see and have even played under this. I however don't use it because I always think of potions as "After fight" healing because I can't imagine taking a glass vial out in melee

and as I said to DNDwarlord, I didn't say non casters are useless. I said we don't play them and there is a huge gulf especially at high level between what they and non casters can bring... so when MY GROUP plays we decide on if we are doing full caster or not full caster. Some half casters work...

how convenient, there is nothing anyone can say that will change your mind that I am somehow weird and not close to the norm. again I think (and unlike you I wont pretend to know) that it's 5-10% on both sides and no one has ANY way to know what side has more... then 80-90% are somewhere...

I know you were trying to help but this is still a misrepresentation of what I said. I didn't say fighter or rogue or barbarian is useless. I said that most times, lets say 7 out of 10 a party of full casters, that still makes sure to have melee options covered, will be better at handling...

yeah, but not what I would call "abuse" as much as used it to make the martial characters have point... it was during the point post Complete Arcane but pre Bo9S for 3.5

correct, 1 stat bump less. yeah I guess they are half feats. we haven't done that in years I agree and I think if anything that should be table to table. yeah that is a good way to look at it, and I miss it. I agree

I thought 18 was the cap in AD&D that you could not get a 19.

yes I started playing with my Dad's 3e books yup... at 8 I knew SOD or SOS was better then damage. I have heard this before and I have looked back at 2e. It looks to me like 100hp was god like in Ad&D 1e and 2e but in 5e that's a 10th level melee build if you power game it or a 14th level...
