D&D 5E (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

the problem is when we try to give exact examples we are told we are cherry picking... If I tell the story of the guy who wanted to be a bomb diggity swordsman and he made a fighter, and another player well they wanted to be a cool spell caster with a sword and made a hexblade (the first was a...

I suggested giving alternat abilities for action surge and second wind so you could pull off a mountain hammer or come and get it instead. I was told that is a spell

I don't think anyone said that. NOw I have resently learned people who block me I can't see so maybe someone did and I can't see it. THe argument normally goes a full caster can deal close to or more depending on day the damage a melee non caster can, but the caster has 100 more options the non...

we playtested full on making fighter/rouge 1 class... you got everything from both core class but you only got 1 subclass and we still found with few exceptions casters played better... when we added both subclasses it got close.

they do more with there at will then the caster does with there at will... the fighter doesn't have a heap load of dailys. Ad a stat to the cantrip or make it a more damage focused one and the caster catches right up... a caster can deal damage similar if not exact to a fighter, but the...

15 the average of 1d8 is 5 by the phb math and so 3 is 15. that also depends on the fighter. a str 19 sword and board fighter is throwing 1d8+4 per hit up to 3 attacks. so 1 hit is 9 2 hits is 18 and if all 3 hit it's 27. 27 isn't even double and you need to land 3 attack rolls... lets do DPR...

Strixhaven, that's right not Ravnica. I forgot they were all like hogworts house subclasses

if the default world is magical and these gates just need some 'user input' then anyone could use them.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 5.11 - the time of big change is over

back when Ravnaca was coming out they tried to make subclasses for multiple classes and couldn't. This would make that possible. Imagine a fighter taking Assassin for the auto crit on surprise, that doesn't sound so bad or a rogue taking battlemaster to make a duelist swashbuckler. the problem...

D&D 5E (2014) What houserules do we assume is common in the community?

I dislike this one but I think it is common if not universal.

D&D General Do We Really Need Multiclassing?

I think the 4e system of take 1 class and pick up additional stuff from a small list from another with feats is a better take then every level picking a new class.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 5.11 - the time of big change is over

I am personally engaging with the topic of the thread. This has nothing to do with believing anything, it has to do with the first post talking about the changes that might not have WoWed. We still have to wait and see.

As someone who currently uses most of the Tasha updates that sounds amazing... and a reason to buy an integrated book without feeling like it's a half edition. Although I do know some will still call it that.

Hey Robilar's Libram sounds pretty cool if it has alternate takes on all the classes. I actually would support that book.

okay so I am going to list my thoughts OTHER then if it is a break point like an edition... (and FYI I do think that may not be true anymore) I am sad, I like new. However this may mean we keep half elf and half orc so I am happy about that. I don't mind the feats, but I REALLY want the...

    D&D General Levels of Mastery

there is also something to be said for "take the best of" like advantage... roll 2d4 take the better or roll even 5d6 and take the highest.

    D&D General Levels of Mastery

oh this sounds like what a DM I used to have used to do. that is almost exactly how he did it (but it was so impossible to get a d10 let alone a d12 that I only once in 7 or 8 games saw a d10 used and he started at d3) he handled it as down time training. SO you needed to find an NPC with the...
