I don't know which people you are referring to, but every edition has made a particular subset of gamers furious. 5e is nothing new. It is probably also the most popular edition of D&D the past 50 years and still growing in popularity, if that is any indication of how many haters it has.

Well, during the pandemic we switched to online only, so I could run 2 games a week for two hours each, so that's still 16 hours a month, it's just spaced out. There were some weeks I squeezed in a third game with a non-DnD system, like Alien, but that's a bitch prepping and running three groups...

I think many tables would be better off by ignoring the dice. I have seen way too many instances where the DM asks for a roll - it ends poorly because of d20 - and something that should have been simply logical to know or interpret is ruined. I think part of this is due to that skills are...

Good point. They wouldn't make such sweeping changes so soon that would invalidate recent books. I do think it will be minor and far less than the 3.0 to 3.5 transition. Whenever they announce 6e I think they're going to come out and say it.

I think you are right. They'll capitalize on the anniversary to rev up sales and interest, but the rules aren't going to change much.

If they significantly change concentration spells and even the concentration mechanic. I don't like how it is a Con roll; I can't tell you how many times my monster's spells are ruined goddamned immediately because they can't maintain it after getting wailed on. I prefer a Concentration skill...
