The next edition of D&D (or PF) that isn't broken in some way will be the 1st. Of those I'm willing to run, I merely use the one we like best & add house rules as needed.

I always figured that a character should be able to handle 1HD worth of enemy per lv. MU & Thieves with their puny d4s I counted as 1HD for every two of their lvs. Every * a monster had I counted for about an extra 1/2HD each. I still use that general 1HD per Lv assumption.

Speaking for myself; There's a little bit of work involved. But it's not hard. And most of it doesn't occur on Game Night. Most importantly, as this is a hobby eating up my free time, if I weren't having fun doing it then I wouldn't be doing it.

Since we allow you to choose wich stat method you use,, we're fine with that type of outcome. You chose to gamble & we know any fantastic results were rolled honestly. If your not feeling lucky? If you definitely want a certain score? If you can't handle low scorez?Then don't choose to roll....

And thats why we roll in front of the group. :) Weirdly its much less common to roll only fantasticly great scores when there's even one witness....
