    D&D Movie/TV I was surprised WotC didn't announce a movie-related product at Wizards Live -- unless they did ...

I think you may be on to something. Looking at the pre-order listing for the movie tie-in gelatinous cube toy from Hasbro, it's branded as being from the "Golden Archive." Not sure whether this is branding for the Hasbro D&D line of toys, a reference to the movie, or both, but it's a short leap...

Why do you GM for strangers online or at conventions? What do you get out of it?

I don't DM online as I find the format far less enjoyable, but I do DM at conventions (including Gamehole Con; I've probably run into Bill D., above). I'm happy to just be a player in my home campaigns, so I use conventions as my ongoing "DM Academy"--to get more confident and hopefully better...

    GenCon 2022 misc thread

Marcello's good people! Been DM'd by him quite a few times now. Glad to see his work get some love. I might have to sign up to run this mod at my next con now that I know it's one of his.

    D&D Movie/TV Here's The D&D Movie Trailer!

Watching the trailer again, I think you're right. It's most evident in the escape-the-guards scene about a minute in. Plus, it might be my imagination, but I think they pitch-shifted her voice a little.

    D&D Movie/TV Here's The D&D Movie Trailer!

Looks promising; I don't envy the thin line that both the filmmakers and the marketers are going to have to walk with this movie. I hope it works out (for any number of reasons).

Free RPG Day 2022 – The Offerings

This was released as a promo item to coincide with the release of the Adventures in the Forgotten Realms set for Magic: The Gathering last year; it reprints the first chapter of the Essentials Kit. Presumably this was meant to lure some non-RPG-playing Magic players to try D&D out--I grabbed one...

News Digest for the Week of March 11

I'll once again thank you for doing the work in parsing complicated legal proceedings, as so frequently turn up in such an IP-heavy industry. Lord knows I wouldn't have much more than an inkling without having my hand held via these reports.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Books Delayed By The Shipocalypse

The worldwide back-up of shipping due to lingering issues from the COVID-19 pandemic (e.g. supply chain slowdowns, skyrocketing materials costs, lack of workers to unload ships, etc.).

RPG Print News – Kobold Press, Superhero Necromancer Publishing, and More

Yeah, I backed the Kickstarter, and it's definitely a neat set-up that speaks to the latent theater nerd in me. I do wish he'd called it something else, as the word "opera" will evoke some inaccurate impressions of what the game is actually about.

News Digest for the Week of July 23

Oh, I get it and I sympathize, but I think "Warduck" is an especially good typo.

News Digest for the Week of July 23

...Warduck, you say? I am intrigued by this battle-ready water fowl for my D&D game and would like to hear more.

    Dragon Reflections #44

Yup, this is how I know him--I frankly didn't even know he did prose fiction, though his frequent inclusion in these early Dragons have certainly educated me. Relatedly, I assume the "W. Willingham" mentioned is Bill Willingham, who would also go on to have quite a lot of success in the comic...
