I was thinking of dipping my toe into Magic with this set (my experience with it is extremely limited), but man, this thread so far is very "Inside Baseball" and pretty intimidating. I hope WotC's marketing is prepared for a potential spike in novice players coming in from the D&D side.

I see a lot of us are thinking Ravenloft, though it's pretty well represented in this edition so far, and recently. Maybe a Van Richten's Guide to [Synonym for Supernatural]? I think I might side with those thinking these are for Innistrad--do these archetypes fit the lore of that world at all...

Yeah, I'm fine with it if it makes sense for story reasons (rather than, I don't know, Acererak making his tomb as accessible as possible to kill the optimum amount of adventurers... actually, that would make sense for him, never mind). I don't get the hate, either, but I'll give them credit for...
