    IN REMEMBRANCE--2025

Al Jazeera correspondent Anas al-Sharif, one of the most prominent journalists in Gaza, was assassinated by the Israeli military along with four of his colleagues at the network. They were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a media tent outside Al-Shifa Hospital.

It's more than that. They both have "erri" in the middle. Also, Merrick's player is named Taran. Once I realized the confusion that might cause, I was tempted to rename him, but it was too late!

@Neurotic, by "Merrick", I suppose you mean my cleric PC, Terrin? Merrick is the barbarian in Team Caves.

There's also a door at the top of a flight of stairs in the north wall of the storeroom. That was my first thought. Eta: Ah, I see Fitz beat me to it. 😄

(5.24 PBP) Vault of the Dracolich (IC) Redux

Poison gas hits Terrin's lungs causing his body to twist involuntarily in a desperate attempt to find a pocket of clean air. Dexterity : 1D20 = [16] = 16 Phew! He gasps and once again intones a word that is long and complex and altogether unpleasant sounding as saliva drips from his mouth, and...

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

In my 5.0E games, I reduce the number of monsters in a given encounter based on an adventuring day budget that depletes throughout the day as the party engages and overcomes opponents in combat. I usually try to do this as part of my prep between sessions to keep things running smoothly.

    Alternatives to map-and-key

A possible alternative to map-and-key as described in the OP, and possibly somewhat resembling the way "best interests" are generated in IAWA, at least structurally, can be found in the "Terrain Selection" system from Chainmail which forms the rules for combat of D&D (1974). Here's the system in...

D&D General Dragonborn In Your Game (A Poll)

Then I should change my vote. To me, cosmetic suggests something like "utterly useless" whereas my response would be that it's a functional part of your body, but it's not going to let you do anything you couldn't have done without it.

D&D General Dragonborn In Your Game (A Poll)

I'm not sure what cosmetic means in terms of the poll. I answered you can have a non-cosmetic tail because it would be a real tail, and you could describe your character making an unarmed strike with it, for example. It wouldn't have any extra rules associated with it like extra damage though...

(5.24 PBP) Vault of the Dracolich (IC) Redux

Nearly doubled over in pain from the crossbow bolt's impact, Terrin gasps for air and intones a harsh sounding word. Energy and resolve flow into his body as he swings his staff down onto Getan lying prone on the stairs. Terrin casts healing word on himself. Healing: 2D4+7 = [1, 2]+7 = 10...

(5.24 PBP) Vault of the Dracolich (IC) Redux

The impact of Rowlow's bolt causes Terrin to whince in pain, threatening to break his focus on the spell keeping Getan unconscious. DC 10 Constitution save: Constitution: 1D20+2 = [1]+2 = 3

(5.24 PBP) Vault of the Dracolich (IC) Redux

Hearing the seriousness of Rowlow's threat and seeing that Lorent's attempt to make a recovery is doomed, Terrin decides the only way to salvage the deteriorating situation is to strike first while his enemies are still unaware of his presence, hoping Copper has had time to release the drow...

(5.24 PBP) Vault Redux (OOC) Fitz's Refresher

@FitzTheRuke, I'm not sure if Terrin's been noticed on the stairs. Would he have the unseen attacker advantage for a first attack with a javelin from there?

Worlds of Design: In the Shadow of Tolkien

I'm not familiar with the Warcraft franchise. Do their Scottish dwarves predate John Rhys-Davies giving Gimli a Scottish-sounding accent in 2001's The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring?

(5.24 PBP) Vault of the Dracolich (IC) Redux

Terrin leaves Getan lying on the stairs and hugs the north wall as he creeps slowly back down towards the prison, staying low to avoid being seen by Siobhan. He stops as close as he can get to the bottom of the stairs while staying back far enough to take advantage of any shadow cast by the...

(5.24 PBP) Vault Redux (OOC) Fitz's Refresher

The cultist Copper was talking with on the way down with the wagon told him the drow was caught "sneaking around" and that they don't know who he is, so I doubt very much he's a cultist himself. I suspect /am hopeful he was part of a group Imani sent in earlier, but I guess he could be a total...
