    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Everything Xanathar

When you say, "I think there are others that get even more out of Hexblade" you need to provide specific examples with support. I would love to move this forward, but need more info.

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Everything Xanathar

Played last night, and had a new character: Hexblade 3/College of Blades 6. Variant human with warcaster feat. That is a sick build guys. Holy cow! Good AC, tons of spells, tons of spells known, silent image at will, weapon flourish (which can be done with ranged or melee), Hexblade curse...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Everything Xanathar

Beware Heavy Armor with a Cleric 1/Wizard X build. You might find it difficult to meet the Strength requirements of the better heavy armors which will slow you down. If you can manage a Dex of at least 14, then Half-Plate (medium armor) is a great choice, which is provided by all Cleric...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Everything Xanathar

Could you have downloaded a PDF or something? I changed it to say you can, "Use a sorcery point to reroll healing dice". All reference to one die was removed when I made the correction. I did not change the rating.

about 23.4 (lots of decimal places) by my calc. Keep in mind this does not take the chance of missing altogether into account.

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Everything Xanathar

Thank you! Is it? What other debuffs do Warlocks and Wizards get as 1st level spells. Tasha's of course (Incapacitated and prone), Charm Person (Charmed), Color Spray (Blind), Ray of Sickness (poisoned), Sleep (incapacitated). Overall, I would put Frightened near the bottom of those for...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Everything Xanathar

Here's a mini guide that might help you: Dung: D for Don't do it man, Dang! Flushed: F for Faulty as, ahem, fudge spell Cantaloupe: C for Circumstantially Capital Amethyst: A for Average as hmmm, something really average that starts with A Grassy: G for Good Gravy what an option! Sky: S for...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Everything Xanathar

I can't argue with that. I'm going to add your recommendation to the spell description. To be more specific, an attack roll or something labelled an attack, but yes, I do agree about the RAW. Based on our conversation, I'm certain that if we each tried this, then our DM reminded us that a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Everything Xanathar

There are so many comments that appeared overnight (thank you!) that individually addressing them would either involve a stupidly long post, or a stupid amount of posts. So, firstly, I have read every comment, I assure you, and here are some general replies: 1) I made an error on the Divine...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Everything Xanathar

If in doubt, it is orange. I don't use brown often...at all. If I ranked it brown, the text should make it crystal clear how I felt about the option. I save this for the real terrible stuff.

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Everything Xanathar

You don't mess around Mellowred! I use crap-brown sparingly, but I think we are in agreement that neither of us are likely to make a Sun Soul Monk...well, ever. It just is not a good option. I Good note though on the wording. You are right, a Sun Bolt is just an attack, not a full action...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Everything Xanathar

Yes, I read Jeremy Crawfords tweet on that spell. I think it's a good spell, particularly for out of combat healing, which I mentioned in the description, and I rated it accordingly. Like you, I don't think it needs a nerf, because honestly, I think it's good, but not game breakingly good...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Everything Xanathar

We have our first disagreement. Let's get into the details. Can't say I agree, but let's dive into the numbers. This is the first point we disagree. If you are fighting one big bad guy, then you are probably locking him on round 1, and it becomes unlikely your allies are being attacked at...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Everything Xanathar

Take another look - the racial feats are already there. You'll find them right between the Subclasses and the Spells. They don't take up much room, because there is much less to go over for each one.

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

So here is where we stand. OK, I spent a stupid amount of time today on the Xanathar's guide, because I foolishly suggested it would likely be posted today, so, finally, it's done. I stopped enjoying the work about 4 hours ago! My new guide As for updating my existing guide, well, it's...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Everything Xanathar

My guide to Xanathar's Guide to Everything, where I assess the options, then you use the comments below to either shower me with praise (yay!) or tell me how terrible it is (boo!) Seriously though, I value feedback. I'm not too concerned about the occassional grammatical mess up, but if I read...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

Here's where we are sitting on that: I bought Xanathar's at my local hobby shop on the weekend (cancelled my Amazon purchase and spent $20 extra bucks to get it 10 days earlier, because sometimes I'm not patient) Read through it in the first couple days and wrote some notes and opinions for...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

I tend to recommend 3 types of spells. Buffs, Debuffs and Battlefield Control. Buffs don't require saving throws, and battlefield control often don't provide saves, so yeah, it can be done. Even a number of blasts don't provide saving throws, if you don't mind rolling to hit.

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

This. If someone lights a torch 100 feet away, you no longer have a complete absence of light. Although it may not provide illumination 100 feet away, some of that light still travels much, much further. How far can light travel through darkness? It depends on the brightness of the light...
