    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

I would rule that heavy obscurement blocks line of sight regardless of the cause. Keep in mind that magical darkness isn't regular darkness. If it's dark and you light a fire, of course you can see it, but fire doesn't shed light in magical darkness, if you could see it, that would require light.

    D&D 5E (2014) [GUIDE] Inquisitor Lim's Bladesinger and Wizard Guide: Xanathar's Edition

Not enough information! My mistake. My group tends to play with Stat Array which means Int and Dex are likely 16 with a high elf at level 1 (Standard array is 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8 - So with High Elf (+2 dx +1 Int) it looks like Str 10, Dex 16, Con 14, Int 16, Wis 12, Cha 8) Definitely at...

    D&D 5E (2014) [GUIDE] Inquisitor Lim's Bladesinger and Wizard Guide: Xanathar's Edition

I have a question. In your Guide you rate Warcaster sky blue (highest rated feat) and mention that you also want to concentrate on ASI. Of course, Dex and Int are both obvious contenders for that ASI. How would you recommend splitting the level 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20 options?

    D&D 5E (2014) [GUIDE] Inquisitor Lim's Bladesinger and Wizard Guide: Xanathar's Edition

If you are looking for an Arcane Melee type character that packs a punch, I recommend a Bladesinger 2/Arcane Trickster X. This combines good AC, a Melee attack that hits very hard (Add Booming Blade or GFB along with Sneak Attack, and let's throw a Magic Weapon on top), decent spellcasting...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

Bladesingers finally have a guide that I think is top notch. It really answers the isssues I had with the subclass: Inquisitor Lim's Bladesinger and Wizard Guide I will be redirecting further Bladesinger comments and questions there, as it very thouroughly answers them. My question from many...

The "inappropriate content" warning seems to be gone from pt 2 of my guide. Let me know if the original link works again.

Yes, I've put it to rest. Thanks for your attempt to warn me.

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

You seemed to be under the false impression that if you feel insulted, there has been an ad-hominem logical fallacy committed. I was correcting you, because you made a mistake. I did not attack your character. That would violate terms of service and would be irrelevant to our discussion. I...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

That is my intention, though don't expect it on day 1. Going to need some time to read, and let everything sink in. Looking forward to it!

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

I owe you an apology. I thought you were trying to tell me that there was some kind of designer intention for multiple encounters between long rests, but you were honestly interested in my opinion. I am embarrassed and hope you can accept my apology. Oh. :erm: Here's how an ad-hominem...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

You are not the first (nor I suspect the last) person to suggest to me that 6-8 encounters per day with 2 short rests is the "standard" and we should evaluate abilties on that standard. However, pg 85 of DMG isn't telling you what every adventuring day is supposed to look like (adventuring days...

I actually addressed this in 2 of my 3 posts. Please read my posts before responding. If you have an issue with my response, please address the response rather than just repeat the original claim. I addressed this too. Please read my posts before responding. You have missed the point of...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

This. We have a character that can't do damage, that is weak against save or take damage spells, is weak against area damage and has a great AC. Using your concentration and actions to shore up AC is beyond questionable, it is literally the last thing you need to worry about. This is not the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

Level 10: At level 8 we are going to boost the Wisdom of the Cleric, the Dex of the Bladesinger (that's a painful pill to swallow, but you are swinging a sword), and Str of the Barbarian Stats look like this: BS: Str: 10, Dex: 18 (14+2+2), Con: 13, Int: 16 (15+1), Wis: 12, Cha: 8 CL: Str: 10...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

Level 5: Our 3 examples include a Bladesinger (High Elf), a Knowledge Cleric (Wood Elf) and a Barbarian Berserker (Oh, let's go with a regular old non-variant human). All 3 will use standard stat array. At level 4 our spellcasters take feats (Warcaster for BS and Cleric) Barbarian will grab...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

vonklaude: I asked: Your answer was: (I'm editorializing as your answer was wordy, I have attempted to keep your intended context, if I've failed to do so let me know) I originally thought you meant "solid" damage, but you meant "solid" ability to sustain melee. This actually doesn't answer...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

You have stated that the BS that uses a rapier should be rated "blue". I rated it "red". We are not close together on this, and you haven't really addressed my main reason for the rating: If doing good damage doesn't matter, why are you swinging a sword (poorly) instead of casting spells...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

Here's the thing, no matter how good every other aspect of BS is, this is an absolute deal-breaker. You have basically just said that a Bladesinger can either cast spells in combat as a full wizard, or pull a rapier and do 1/3-1/2 the damage that a melee character would normally be expected to...
