Yes, not sure it's practical. That said, it's interesting, and worth a post xp!

The short answer is no. The longer answer is that a larger radius is an advantage, but it's not a big advantage. In most combats, that extra radius isn't useful, but in those combats where it is, it would be a lot more useful if the base effects of the spell were better.

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

Your reading is correct, I must have confused it with fly. That said, yes, I am comfortable with the blue rating despite targeting Con. Here's a more detailed reasoning: 5e is not a complicated game, but there is nuance that I wasn't fully grasping until I had some significant experience. One...

I agree. I updated my rating and description of Pyrotechnics, but neglected to do the same for flaming sphere. That is now done.

I pretty much agree with every point Rofel makes here. I would add though that it is a good idea to have a damage cantrip that requires a to hit roll, and another that requires a saving throw. The latter are useful if you are in a situation where you would have disadvantage on an attack roll...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

This is correct. My group only plays with official material, so I don't even read the UA stuff. When someone says, "Gloomstalker Ranger got seriously nerfed from the UA Ranger", it tells me 2 things: 1) I prefer evaluating the final draft of something without seeing the previous drafts. I...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

Wizard on Wizard combat isn't going to happen. It will be a party vs a single wizard or party vs wizard + other baddies. The tactic "concentrate on the wizard" is hardly new, but there's a reason we all know it. You get one counterspell a round, if you are being ganged up on, you may need to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

I thought it would make a bigger difference than it did. Note that some ratings did indeed change, and wording changed for several, but overall, most of the ratings stayed the same when I considered them from a "wizard only" perspective. I guess to some degree, I was always looking at them...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

I've lost interest in this exchange, but this rubbed me the wrong way. When Crawford tweets "There's no floor.", then replies to himself saying, "Leomund's tiny hut does have a floor, Mr. Crawford (read your own book)." It's not unclear which interpretation he settled on.

I would need a shower afterwards. I would also lose my friends. That said, yes, these applications seem legal to me. When the guy vandalizing your house trips and breaks his leg and sues you because the injury occurred on your property - that kind of legal.

The wording was changed to "magical effect". Couldn't say when that happened.

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

Leomund's tiny hut is stupidly good. The more I play, the more I recognize how broken it is. This idea that an enemy will "dig under" the hut to successfully attack isn't going to hold up in gameplay unless they have a burrow speed or something (even then, what kind of ground you are on will...

unnecessary, you can determine how the gyph is triggered, but even if it requires touch, interacting with an object is a free action for anyone.

Yep, very useful for all those adventures where you are navigating your own home. That said, it's a bugger to face when an NPC can use them to ignore concentration restrictions. I recently ran a 3rd party adventure where the enemy hag did just that. Players were not impressed with me.

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

I think it changes little in actual gameplay regardless of how the official rules discuss the identification of the spell. I figure it comes down to two actual scenarios that occur: 1) DM: The enemy wizard casts a fireball! Roll your dex saves. Handsome and witty wizard: I cast counterspell...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

My original understanding was that as long as neither spell used a bonus action, neither needed to be a cantrip. Then Jeremy Crawford posted this: https://twitter.com/JeremyECrawford/status/862417942645850112 and this https://twitter.com/JeremyECrawford/status/657260788122386432 Which both...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

Hey all, been gone for awhile (health got real and scary for a bit, so I was spending less time having fun). Going to be spending the next couple of days catching up on posts from the past few months. Also, I've (finally) updated my wizard guide with the Xanathar's spells. Better late than never.

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Everything Xanathar

Got it. I have to disagree, but it's subjective. Seems to me basing a build around a 1/day ability that increases crit from 19-20 is really narrow. Moreso when the "sweet spot" of having advantage (through vow of enmity) and the increased crit range (through Hexblade curse) cannot even be...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Everything Xanathar

More synergy with Hexblade and Battlemaster? I did not see that coming. It is possible you haven't read the College of Blades option for Bards, but I should point out now that a Battlemaster's Maneuvers and College of Blades flourishes are REALLY similar. - both add a die to damage - in both...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Everything Xanathar

I think that's the idea, though I don't agree. Portent is really good, and really fun, but isn't "too" good. I can say that having played it multiple times, and seen it played even more. As for Moon Druid - it IS too good from levels 2-4. After that, it's fine, but not broken at all.
