D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

Or when a homebrewer like Laser Llama creates a class whose concept has been talked and implemented about for years but hasn't quite satisfied that itch. I am talking about his Magus class, which is the arcane counterpart of both the Paladin and Ranger classes. Laser Llama's Ranger class looks...

It might not work for everyone.

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

The number of classes, subclasses and feats in a given RPG is a Goldilocks thing. For some, reducing the number of classes to the bare minimum is a good thing, but for others can be a bit stifling by limiting their creativity. For others, having a large number of classes can offer them a lot of...

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

Or how about the Mutants and Masterminds route where you have to pay for everything (ability scores, attack bonus, defense bonus, saves, skills and powers aka class features)? :p All within a set power limit. The only neat thing about the M&M route is that you get to design how your powers will...

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

It's more than just doing a concept well. Reducing the number of classes down to four (Priest, Wizard, Rogue, Warrior) might make the remaining four more complex than what they are now. As now the new 'subclasses' of the four will have to add in more material to help distinguish one subclass...

D&D's The Book of Dragons Comes Out in August

The Lung Dragons appeared in 2e's Oriental Adventures. The Imperial Dragons appeared in PF1. Eastern-style dragons do need to make a comeback, as we could then role-play as Eastern-style Dragonborn. :) Like this handsome fella. ;)

D&D General Is it bad to make your version of another player's character? (My mental hangup.)

Is it bad to make your version of another player's character? I don't think so because you could always design your character to be an alternate reality version of that other character. You could then explore what it would be like for your version to take a different path in life. One that the...

D&D's The Book of Dragons Comes Out in August

If the 2024 Amethyst Dragon looks amazing, then I hope the 2024 Amethyst Dragonborn is a lot better too.

Size matters? ;) "What catches your eye first, the 5 ft. tall Wizard or the large Silver Dragon in the room?"

D&D's The Book of Dragons Comes Out in August

Agreed. :) The Silver dragon in that pic looks way better than the 2024 version of the Bronze. I am sticking with the version WoTC used for 3e, 4e and 5e. The Amethyst Dragon looks good despite looking a little chonky.

D&D's The Book of Dragons Comes Out in August

Another book on dragons to add to my collection. :) Last Monday I happily stumbled across a copy of the Dracopedia Field Guide: Dragons of the World from Amphipteridae to Wyvernae in a small-time bookstore up in Suttons Bay, MI. Dracopedia Field Guide

    D&D 5E (2024) [HOMEBREW] Ranger Ideas +

I know what you mean. I am currently playing a 2014 Bugbear Gloom Stalker Ranger/Scout Rogue, and I never seem to have a good opportunity to really use that subclass feature. The Level Up Tenebrous Stalker Ranger has a feature that would be really useful for the Gloom Stalker Ranger. Embrace...

D&D 5E (2014) Wonder why there aren't any Elemental Domains (Earth, Air, Fire, Water)?

A cleric having access to 2 domains (out of the 5 that 3e had) at once allows for more customization within the faith. ;)
